Texas Veggie Gardeners!! Stories, Tips and ADVICE!

Hey Daddykirbs! Great looking garden! I like the PVC hoops too! I built a PVC frame over my tomatoes 2 years ago and kept them toasty warm all winter. Not last winter though, the drought kicked my tail. Will definately use it this winter for vine ripe 'maters!

I updated my sweet potato journal over on TEG. Go have a look. At least something will grow in our heat.

Great... Now I have to join another forum... Lol

Your garden looks great!

Thanks for the update Daddykirbs. Good to know about the bags! I was too late to put much of a vegetable garden in this year. .

I tried some basil but it was already too hot and they grew about 12 inches and bloomed. No good :(

I am getting figs :)

This is a 5 year old fig tree. It's in a crowded spot but it's producing!

I planted this fig last fall and it's bearing fruit the first year!

Guava! I've had it 3 years this is the first year it bloomed and set fruit.

I had a good grape crop but they don't taste very good. The chickens ate quite a few as well as the mockingbirds. Now it has some kind of rust and is burning up in the heat!

Those look great! I had to buy some dried figs for a grilled fig pizza that I made this week - didn't want to drive all the way into Central Market or Whole Foods in Dallas just for fresh figs. I think the pizza would have been much better if we had some good looking fresh figs like you're getting.

I planted beets, radishes, turnips, and carrots a couple weeks ago. Had a few frosts. Still getting peppers, tomatoes, and picked my last 2 egg plants this morning.
I took picture of the lemon tree this morning. I'm guessing 2 weeks or so until they are ripe. There is a slight green tint still on the backside.

The orange tree is a mandarine clementine. They are about ready. Took that picture this morning also.
