Are you close to Bastrop if so I have a few pallets how many are you needing I would be willing to relinquish a few to the greater cause (guess that would be the chicken cause lol)
If you draw a straight line between stephenville tx and cleburne tx, I live right in the middle of that line. I did mapquest and it was 163 miles... the gas alone would eat me alive. But I sincerely thank you for the offer. If I could, I would be there in a heartbeat.

Several of my relatives have had poultry stolen.. I had rabbits stolen a few years ago (plus when I was a kid).. and a few years ago someone stole two of my horses (it was a prank.. but still).. and last summer my chickens started going missing.. one here or there.. from a closed coop.. no sign of anything.. kinda funny how it stopped as soon as I gave our livestock dog free access to that area!
there are some people who are just plain crap...

but.. he doesn't WANT them! ....

Just thought I would post this in the hopes it gets seen.

Last Sunday I gave 6 chicks to a guy who worked at Rawhide Rustic to give to his wife. The deal was he gives me the pallets he has stored up at his house. He told me 35 of them. He asked to wait until Wednesday because he would have two or three more to add to the load of pallets. I was okay with it since both my DH and I trusted him. We both stood up for him when the managers asked if he should get fired. Despite what we wanted (and a good many other employees) he was fired as a no call no show.

The reason I am posting it on here is that I was told his wife has an account on this site. I hope she sees this and remembers the deal for the chickens and that maybe his phone is broke and he can't get to email. Both my DH and I have tried numerous times to contact him but we have not received a response.

Please let me know if you are indeed cancelling on us. I won't insist on the chicks coming back because I know how happy they made you (at least that was what I was told). But I would like to know so that I can move on and get materials elsewhere instead of waiting and hoping.

yep. Solid colored. I also have a blue wyandotte hen... I'm hoping to get a few blue babies since my roo is also blue
Okay good. Let me explain just incase you do not know.

Black and red are the base colors of all birds. The dilution gene (blue) only has an effect on black bases. Your blue cock is really a black with 1 copy of the dilution gene, that gene turns black to blue.

When breeding blue x blue = black, blue, splash
When breeding blue x black = black, blue

Blacks = 0 dilution gene
Blues = 1 copy dilution gene
Splashes = 2 copies dilution genes (this bird is HZ for the dilution gene) If you breed a splash to black you will get = 100% blues

1. The deepest solid black Wyandottes have dusky legs (I don't have any pictures of these birds)
2. breed for blacks that have the green sheen only (look at my cockerel 03, he has the green sheen you want)

3. breed for wide open teepee tails, to achieve this, you want birds that are as wide from the chest all the way back to the hips. (here are two examples of teepee tails, the first one is on a cockerel, the second is a hen)

I did not know that. Thank you! A few of my hens have a green sheen to them... Thats a good thing, right? I'm not really breeding for a certain quality, but wouldn't mind getting some really pretty birds. I know my roo isn't SOP but I, personally, think he's beautiful and want to see what he can produce
