Yes. Something to remember is this: Chicken wire only works well to keep chickens in, not to keep other critters out. Plenty of nasties out there can get past chicken wire including coons, possums, and dogs.

If your pen is chicken wire believe me a raccoon can pull one through & leave nothing maybe something did scare it off because they usually pull several through before their done

My pen is 10 gauge chain link, 6ft tall with a concrete slab base. (Converted hog pen). But who knows...just found it odd that one would go missing like that.

Brighter note: just got finished re-tarping their run so now they will have shade all day. The new 20' x 10' tarp worked perfectly! Added about 7 more feet of roost space in the coup along with 3 more nest boxes! Those gals better be happy and start laying me some eggs!

The only thing that will keep raccoons, etc. out is hardware cloth wire I've learned the hard way too......

I understand that! My parents always said that i only learn things one way...Got no plans tonite and believe i saw a live trap around here somewhere. What do u use as coon bait?

I use dry dog food.

We use dry cat food.........caught 2 in 3 days last week in a live trap. Last year we caught 7 in 7 days, while the people behind us killed 4 in the same time period Good Luck
