Got a text that hubby is picking up the chicks

EXCITING! Make sure your DH gives the chicks water as soon as he gets home. From what I have been reading, you want to dip their beaks into water so they know where and what it is.

We made a nipple waterer so I told him to tap their beaks on it so they see the water. He said they are all alive, all look alert

I only got 2 pics he had to go take care of our sick son (I'm missing my baby too)

Anyone have any luck with killing spider mites on tomato plants without using insecticide? I have mine out on the side of the house (these have spider mites) and those growing for the chickens out behind the coops.

I got two trios of cream legbars (so 2 male 4 female), 8 various olive eggers and 4 mille fluer leghorns

Where did you get an assortment like that. What are the olive eggers from.

I've definitely noticed a difference in smell since I switch to FF, back in October. The coops smell a little musty, but not poopy at all, unless one of the girls just did a soft one. The youngsters are still on dry food right now and their coop stinks most of the time. I've been working on merging them with the adults this last week and they've discovered the FF in the big run and are currently going nuts for it! I'll be switching them over as soon as I finish all the grower food I have.

Funny thing - on a whim, I started adding the ACV to the hens water a couple of weeks before I gathered eggs for hatching this past spring. Last year's hatch, I got 7 boys out of 12 hatched eggs. This year, two hatches of 10 and 8 eggs and I got a total of 4 boys! It's going to take a couple more times for me to say that the vinegar had an effect (as claimed), but it looks pretty successful so far!

Where did you get an assortment like that. What are the olive eggers from.

I got them from Papa Brooder here on BYC - I think he has more hatching next Monday too

He sent 3 different types of his olive egger projects which is what I wanted, I had no olive eggers yet I think some are from the Cream Legbars, not sure what the rest are from.
