Are Legbars a recognized breed or are the just a mutt with a name? They sure are beautiful!
The Gold, Silver, and Cream Legbar varrieties were all created by the Cambrige Univeristy Breeding Program. The progect started in 1935 with the goal of creating a true breed that could be color sexed with 100% accuaracy as day old chicks and be prolific layers. The Gold Varriety was the first to be accpeted into the Breed Standards of the British Poulty Club (eqvivilent to the APA in our area). The Silver Varriety and Cream Varriety followed. All three varrieties have had written breed standards for over 50 years now making in the UK, but this breed didn't make it to the USA untill 2010. The Cream Legbar Club has written proposed APA standards and will be working on getting this breed recognised by the APA.

The Cream varriety of Legbar lays a blue egg. It was accpeted into a breed standard before the Auracana or Americana in the US, so for comparision it is an older breed that any of the American blue egg breeds. :)

OH wow! Cream Legbars were the first chicken I fell in love with internet wise..sadly I have never seen one in real life..(second was the Favaucana.. no comparison though!) SO beautiful and unique!
I had no idea someone here raises them! I have a dear friend in Marble Falls!

hey Texans I'm in Burleson....expecting some lavender orps this weekend and one little guinea keet! nothing happening with my eggs yet....maybe if I quit starring at them lol!

I go past there alot when I'm in the D/FTW area. Welcome, we are in Abilene and right now we have Guinea Keets coming out of our ears!!

Good morning everyone! Got an all day birthday party today. Yay. (Sense sarcasm)

My husband's grandmother, aunt, and cousin drove in from Katy to spend the WEEK. They'll be here in a couple hours, so I have been forced to spend the last couple of days deep cleaning my house. Yay. (See, your sarcasm is catching...)

Thought i would add, I'm leaving in fifteen days! So looking forward to the start of a new adventure. I'm scared ****less of all the stuff I don't know. Excited and terrified, all at once. I cried when i was forced to get my drivers license. Thought I would kill someone for sure. Now I am going to drive a giant truck.

Go ahead and laugh, ever since i was little I've been a cautious person. That could be because I am the queen of clumsy.
