TOTALLY understand! Is he your way? or further? I know we will have to grow some too.. I am ok with the after cleaning but not the actual deed! Bad thing is, it's hubby too!
He makes a trip from Hamilton to South Austin. I think but might be wrong, that he will drive for gas or large numbers of pick up. Great dude as far as I know but nothing is free.
Ya, my hubby is not willing so until the day comes, we will put that off to another day.

Uglychickens / Back2 - I think the WHOLE political system has become nothing but a bunch of paid actors.

...okay, I'm done.
I know this forum is about chickens, but we should all be able to speak out on injustice at all times. If everyone was to simply see and say and understand how money works then none of those greedy murdering thieves would have as much control as they do. Speak your mind Texas! This is a Texas thread where I have seen talk of guns, diet, and many other potentially heated things could happen. If all about chickens then read the thread only dedicated to the chickens. No need to tape over the truth from your mouth. Paid actors indeed .No need to even pay. Our whole nation is full of them. T.V. paves the way. I do see a relation in these topics to chickens though. It effects my chickitopia.

Cheers Texas

I think the real question is.. is anyone or does anyone even know someone who is actually FOR this war? I know I sure haven't! *shakes head and goes to kiss her babies good night and hold them tight*

e.

I saved some baby pheasants from my dogs when I was little. I accidently sat on one and the skin on its head came off but it was still alive. It was awful and I was at home alone. I knew I had to do something to put it out of the pain that I had caused. I took it outside and dropped a huge rock on it. I have never in all these years that have gone by gotten over that. I have thought long and hard trying to "get over it and just do it" but so far no luck.

I think we all have talents that are different and maybe someday I can add that to my resume.

Did you check out that BackYard Chicken Thread, "Processing Day Support Group~HELP us through the Emotions PLEASE!"? When I was in Grade 8, we were dissecting frogs. The science teacher thought dissecting pithed frogs would be a great idea. Let's just say, that whole episode left quite the impression on me. I, too, thought I could never do something like slaughter a chicken and that I would starve or die of malnutrition if I did. I just think morally, it is better to raise a happy chicken that has one bad day. It's an ethical issue with me. Before I got chickens, I was assured by the feed store that she knew someone who processes chickens for people. As soon as I bought the chickens, she let me know he didn't do it anymore. I looked high and low for someone to process them for me to no avail.

Where is this guy located?

Yep, I think you are right. He had a little red color on his back so at first we feared copperhead but the head did not look like a copper. Only the second snake we have found in almost three years of moving onto undeveloped land so I guess we are lucky. Thanks for the thread.
I'm not 100% sure this works, but it did for a year. My husband sprinkled moth balls around our perimeter and we had no snakes in our yard for over a year. Then about a week ago we found one in the yard that the chickens killed. He put a fresh box of moth balls out this week. Supposedly snakes have a keen sense of smell and don't like the smell of moth balls so they steer clear.

It's daunting logging on and seeing you missed 142 posts, isn't it?!

I need to take something to sleep tonight after working outside all day. It feels like my body is still revving.

I hope y'all get rain like we did!

It rained twice.. for 5 mins both times!

Yesterday was 80% chance and not a drop! Are you hogging all the rain? lol
We missed you too Tammy! Even though it sounds like you are keeping all the rain to yourself up there

I tried to give you an ovation, but apparently I am above my quota. This!

If we could have open discussion on hard topics without people getting upset or taking things personally we might actually solve a few problems. Sometimes it takes being blunt to get the point across. And I don't mean being ugly, I just mean being able to speak your mind and people not jumping the gun and thinking you are talking about or to them. There are only a handful of very personal political things that I will not talk about because I feel very strongly about them and I get very emotionally charged. And I do avoid talking about these on the internet because its too easy to get in a fight over them. But this WAR......you know its the same people who called President Bush (and I didn't like him either just for the record) a warmonger are wanting to go to war now. And here is the kicker......we are on the side of the same people who were behind 9/11. With the anniversary just days away! As a firefighter's wife, its hard to explain how emotional 9/11 is for all police and fire. That could have been my DH running into that building and never coming back out. What happened to never forget? The Syrian rebels that we are talking about aiding are being funded by terrorists. Ugh.

Thanks! I will have to try this!
