Texas

I am not a monster you know. I have already said he has not been punished except did not get fed with the others this morning. I have evidence on him now but it is over. Thanks for the advice.

The original owner of this beautiful boy almost shot him for killing her chickens. I always thought that he was falsely accused of this because he is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. I have also worked at a vet clinic and have had some of the most well behaved dogs in Texas so I just was a little shocked by it all. I love my animals and they are all very well fed. He will be fine.
Not trying to offend you or say that you are a monster. You asked for advice. Generally when someone asks for advice, they are lacking in knowledge and/or experience in dealing with the issue. I don't agree with some of the advice you received. After reading your posts regarding what you were planning with your dog, and comments which indicated to me that you do not have education in dog behavior and training, I felt compelled to render my opinion - since you did ask an open forum for advice.

Everyone is so serious and sad today!

Should I post the photo of my JG in his swimwear again??? :D

Melissa, that is a cute little pup you have. I'm glad you had luck with a rescue animal because I've been looking for a couple of months for a Shar Pei, even a decent mix, and can't find one.

The North American Shar Pei Rescue (nice people) has some purebred's but they won't send me photos of puppies because they don't want them "circulated" (?) and they are $350....I've searched shelters and found a Rott-Pei small puppy in Conroe only to find out he is much older than I wanted (7 months) and the current photo of him looks more Dobie-Pei which is not what we want, either. So, we've decided to go with an AKC breeder (breeder of merit) but no puppies from this particular breeder until after Christmas, which is fine...no hurry. Our last Shar Pei was great with the chickens (chased at first but never killed). Another thing I've learned in my search is that rescues/shelters pretty much tell you what you want to hear to get the dog adopted. I'm not hating on anyone, like I said they were all very nice people.

One thing about dog training....teach them that "No" means "NO!" from a young age and try to catch them in the act of anything for immediate correction. It worked WONDERS with our dog. All through her life, If there was something we didn't not want her to do, one time telling her NO! was all it took and that included chasing chickens.

Some post were TLTR, but I hope we are all still one big happy family.

Here is a slightly funny story from quite a few years back
gig.gif
! We found a pit-bull down by our pond one day. She was about 5 or 6 months old at the time. She belonged to a Meth House that burned down a few months before that was down the road from us and they left her tied to a tree and starving
th.gif
! We took her in as one of our own though
love.gif
. We had a beauteous German Shepard named Shana and a little Golden dog named Chelsea at the time. Well the first night she spent in our house we let her up on the bed to sleep with us as our other two dogs did every night! Well in the middle of the night we woke up to a horrible smell and there was a huge pile of poodle doodle right next to the bed and the new dog was acting sooooo very guilty
sickbyc.gif
! My hubby scolded her severely and took her out side to go. The next night it happened again so he took her out after scolding her. This went on for 5 nights
gig.gif
! She always acted soooo guilty each night while Shana and Chelsea just acted like nothing happened! My hubby finely decreed that till she was broken of the habit she had to sleep in the living room by herself with the bedroom door closed. That night there was another huge pile
idunno.gif
!!! It turned out that the German Shepard was jealous and was the one doing it and not the new dog
th.gif
!!!! Now we don't scold till we see it happen with our eyes

This isn't really where I wanted to start off on this forum, but....
Been reading along on this and I have to say
Totally agree ! I think your dog is acting "weird" because everything is just "NOT NORMAL" right now.
If you didn't catch him doing it..... NOT GUILTY ! now...Just keep your eyes peeled.
Hello Tx Lake Chick!
Yes, today it has not been the same thread. I am partially at fault I think. I am only posting pics of cute baby chicks from now on. Anywho, glad to see another local around that likes being chicken crazy.
