The pictures don't do them justice-they are really beautiful. You'll get to see them soon!
I figured grays and whites would be the norm at the show so I'm going to bring a bit of color with me. I'm so excited about the show that I'm ready for Christmas and New Years to be over!

Me too, It will be real good to see all the different colors, So glad you are bring some new colors

I'm hoping they'll be well received. Some of the purists don't care for the new varieties other than the grays and whites, but I love them. Brings more attention to the breed if you ask me!

I don't think we will have that problem ,Most of the call breeders I know is just getting started mostly 4-5 years and under, At least most of us are new to calls , Plus the more color the more people they will bring , Look at my Dominique there is only one color and three breeders i know of here in TX,So the more color's the better I think

I really do not know how or where to ask this so i will ask you fellow texans. What other breeds can i keep with silkies that will not attack them or hurt them ?? I will be going to clean up and disinfect the coop i am renting around Jan 7th and i ordered my silkies from Meyer Hatchery and they should get here the week of Feb 28th any ways back to my question i really want to get one or two other breeds to mix into the silkies and i want them to be the same age so i will be ordering them soon. Would sermas be ok to mix in ?? Thanks please let me know if there is a place i can stick this or if it should just stay here.

Hi EERules!
If it were me, I would go with a bird more along the same size range as the Silkies.
Poor little Silkies get picked on because they look different. Maybe just stick with them and get you some different, really pretty colors.
My sister raises Silkies and houses them totally separately in what she calls "The Silkie Pen" for that very reason.

Anyone from Texas heading up to Illinois/Indiana for the holidays? I have some ducks that need a ride to the Chicago area and right now, we won't ship them due to the weather.
I'm fostering some ducks for a friend of mine and would love to get them home if I could!
Thanks, folks!

Hi Piecemaker!

Yes it seems you're very close !
I like that ! What kind of chickens do you raise? My newest ones are Delawares. Man !! I just have hatchery birds, but these little things are really friendly !!
I am really happy about that. Mine are mostly for pets. I am going to be looking for a couple of Cochin pullets this spring, so that I can have them brood our own eggs later.

Are you thinking of going to the Poulty show in College Station after the first of the year? I just heard about it on this thread. I am trying my best to talk my DH into going LOL. Maybe we could meet up somewhere and introduce ourselves.
