Texas

Well it really is hump day and I'm not feeling like getting up. I've developed a nasty cough. Just not feeling it today. Ugh
Please REST! I started out with a scratchy throat, went into a hacking cough, and then the flu. UGH I had it for about a week and a half. Drink plenty of OJ and yes, put the Vicks on your feet and chest. It does help.

I have 4 sisters. Getting into the bathroom when I was growing up was a challenge at times. ;)
Hi! I'm in Cleburne. Looks like I've got a few neighbors on here!

Good Morning Fellow Texans!

Moon is shining brightly at 4:43 AM.

Jockeyeba I am sorry for your 'wound'. I am trying to settle one of my roos down also. He has little stubs right now for spurs but he attacks when I have my hands full. DH and I are picking him up and carrying him hoping that will calm him down. I am also out-crowing him. He hates it when I do that. hahahahaha

Brookshire11, today is the day! I am anxiously awaiting your report on the chicks.

Ya'll have a great day!

Lisa :)
STILL waiting to hear from the post office..no shipping updates since the 13th. IT still shows them as "departed USPS sorting facility" from Monday night.

Hubby called this morning when the post office opened and she remembered about the chicks but said they hadn't received them yet. I wonder if they'll arrive later today or if I'll have to wait til tomorrow. I'm really starting to worry about them...I just want to get those babies home and warm and watered!

I'm thinking about calling the Post Office again..I'm sure I'll drive them crazy though.

I miss those ages. My favourite is a little older, when you can tell them to do something - like get dressed, brush your teeth, etc - and they can do it, as well as crafty things. I guess 5-10 age range.

I would love a metal roof. I just don't have the money for one.

OUCH!!!!!

Yeah!!

I have been a single mom since my boys were 2 and 4. It has been very hard. It's still hard. My 19 yr old is torn between being an adult and child right now, not so much with my 21 yr old. He is away at college though so that could be why.

Get elderberry extract and take 3 times the dose on the bottle for a few days. You may not get sick. The key to it working is to catch the bug early. I use elderberry all the time, haven't been sick since 2005.

I think we all are allergic to teenagers. lol!

It's chilly this morning! I have so much to do today too. Looks like another trainer ride for me today. :( Lots of errands to run plus work... yuck.
I use elderberry syrup for my kids! They get some everyday! Since I started, the only thing my son has gotten is an ear infection, but I think it's because he can't handle dairy. We've since switched him to coconut milk and he seems to be better.
They also managed to avoid this really nasty bug my husband and I got a Christmas time. And we live in a small house so I'm not sure how else they avoided it..lol.

He's 3 years old & getting worse-I've tried all the suggestions & tricks-nothing has helped. He's a tiny OEGB, he'd make 2 bites lol We slaughter our excess roos all the time but never did him because he's so tiny
Two bites or a pot of soup is still two bites or soup you didn't have before.

Each one of my Silkie cockerels made two meals for my husband and me plus a pot of fantastic soup. He might be smaller than my Silkies, but he'll make a wonderful soup. It will help you heel from your leg wound...

When I slaughtered our excess roosters last year, I just ended up using the smallest one for dog food (it wouldn't make a strong enough stock because he was younger and there wasn't enough meat to enjoy). The feathers, however, were the real prize. My sister has made some brilliant pieces of jewelry and is currently working on a mask that she might use for her masquerade dance at the end of the school year.

I almost can't wait to take care of some of the roosters we have right now. None of them attack (I was constantly teaching them who was boss when they were younger so they'd never get the courage to attack me). Even when I pick them up, they occasionally peck at my hand but never hard. However, they do fight each other sometimes and I have a half-blind Black Australorp (or Jersey Giant; he's getting huge and I'm starting to think that not asking when I purchased him was a bad idea, haha!) that came up to me yesterday with a bleeding comb. I ended up catching the one who did it and gave him a good, stern petting that made him really embarrassed. He now avoids me and most of the other roosters.

I want to make sure we have plenty of feathers for arts & crafts. The meat is great, too, but since most of the roosters are older than 8 months, I am limited to make shredded chicken, soup, or stock out of them.

Sorry to hear that they are lost somewhere, hope they find them soon. They should be deliver sometimes today. A bird was shipped to me on Monday too and arrived this morning healthy. I instructed the shipper to make a note for the PO to call me once the package arrived Austin main office. This way I intercepted right away and saved half a day of traveling around Austin to my house and saved me the waiting time at home. This morning I took the rooster to the farm, and quickly left for work, sorry no picture.

Drive them crazy and call. I would call Myers too and see if they can find them.

My roofer just called. His wife is going in for somewhat emergency surgery tomorrow (heart/blood pressure issues) and he can't do my roof. They just found out this morning. He is going to work me in asap. He was apologizing for it and I'm like, no problem, she is way more important than my roof. I guess some aren't very understanding.
