Well I spoke too son! When I got home from church there was lots of squawking and when I looked into the coop there were two gorgeous blue/green eggs!! Happiness!! Now if I can just convince beauty, my black australorp to lay we will be rolling in eggs!

If they were about 10 weeks at thanksgiving then they are around 22 weeks. So ok she's got a bit to go before I start charging her rent!

Ameraucanas can take along time to start laying. They aren't like the production egg layers.

Feeling alive. Head still stuffed up and my hearing still sounds like I have cotton in my ears, but much better. Roast in the oven so it's kick back time.
ClovisMan the coop looks great. Good idea to wire and vent the top. You can always cover it if we ever have another winter like we did this year. About the nesting boxes. You could have 10 and they will fight over their 2 favorites.Ibejaran congrats on the new chicks. Sorry about your rooster Hung. RachaelS good job on the runs.
I have been checking out the Orpington threads. Most Orp owners feel the same way I do about that breed. Closest thing to a dog of any chicken breed.

Today:

Positive: Have a new dog in the ranch. This is a 2 yr pit bull, been raised with chicken so she is calm, a friend fixed her prior to donate to us.

Negative: all sudden a rooster died, maybe of the cold, I couldn't find any other reason. Still, we went around the brood pens and spread out the snake repellent.

Got back into soccer refereeing, so working tomorrow with my son.

Which age group do you ref?
My daughter plays in the co-ed adult league. And she plays indoor.
