Hi,
From Brookshire, Tx ....near Katy!!
Thank you I enjoy this Thread because Texas is one of a kind in all things and this has been so helpful to me just reading.Welcome to the Texas thread! More room for your hens is always great! In your last pic, I see you waterer is the one with the screw on lid that you don't fill upside down. How does it work for you? Is the lid hard to open/close? Some reviews I've read on it state that they have trouble with the lid. I'm still trying to decide how to water my chicks once they are out of the brooder.
What is that sitting behind your coop? Will you have to move it when you put in your second run?
Hi,

We have that same drinker (I refer to it as a waterer but spell check informs me that is not a word...lol) We bought this one a few weeks ago and LOVE it. I'm not sure if you could still hang it from the handle though, I'm thinking probably not or it would mention it on the description.Thank you I enjoy this Thread because Texas is one of a kind in all things and this has been so helpful to me just reading.
I do like that I don't have to fill and flip the heavy waterer, However I have to really tighten the lid to make sure it doesn't have air flow or all of the water runs right out. I have it on a brick for support the chain is so it doesn't get knocked off the block. There have been times when I have been unable to open it and had to wait for my husband to get home to give my ladies clean water in the coop. I do keep "cat litter pans" of water in the run so they can have fresh water out there or cool their feet in the summer without drowning. That also helps as I don't have to change all the water pans at the same time. 1 or 2 gallons and all the ladies are happy. Keeps the drought conscious in me happy too.
Behind the coop is a dump wheelbarrow I was adding dirt and grass clippings to the run this fall, cant tell now because the ladies made quick work of it. From the pictures you can see they have plenty of new material as soon as I get the mower out.

Good morning, everyone! I'm up early and am at work, even though I technically don't open until 10. I didn't have a ride, though, so I'm just gonna sit around and wait until a reasonable hour to turn on the lights and get to work. And, ya know, hang out in BYC until I can't anymore, haha!
All my new chicks are alive and well. Guinea keets, Wyandottes, and the EEs were all tucked safely under Salazar's (New Year's Eve Chick's) wings when I went outside this morning. It was so cute! I wish it had been bright enough to take a picture!
Now, I wish I could nap. There is about 2 hours until I need to open up shop. I really wish there was an easier way for me to get to work, haha!
Welcome from Rosenberg!! You are about 30 minutes north of me!! I checked out your website. WOW!!! I am in love with your minis. Very nice set-up! How long have you been doing this?

Abt 2 yrs ago , my husband has experience w/ animals. I quickly learned a little and love it. The chickens we just started abt 2 mths ago. I get so much joy from my chickens. I often go and just sit in the enclosure with them or I sit in the back pasture with my mini's. The animals are my sense of therapy, can't do a lot due to a previous car accident. I still feed, water, & groom them.
Hi Laura!! Start designing your new coop. I bet you could find some neat ideas on this forum. I hope your day goes fast!

Have you had any trouble with the float? Reading the reviews, seems like the float is the biggest problem. Not being able to find parts to repair it.We have that same drinker (I refer to it as a waterer but spell check informs me that is not a word...lol) We bought this one a few weeks ago and LOVE it. Bigger and better is always best!I'll try and sketch out some incubator and brooder designs. Dad wanted something small. I'm feeling the need for something more extravagant!![]()
