Texas

Okay so I am looking for some more Pearls of Wisdom.

I did the whole treat with poison and sulfur for the infestation. That time in our coop is coming to a close thankfully

Now I am wondering if I should do Chicken baths to get excess poison and critters off their skin (have not seen any critters, but being dead

).

I would not be worried about shiny show quality girls, just that their skin is healthy and doesn't dry out. After all they will be put back into the Coop? Run which both contain lots and lots of wood ash for bathing. so I do not expect or want them to stay clean I am just not sure what leaving that poison on would or could do?

Any Thoughts??

I know! The world changed the day I became a Nana! It's like it got a lot brighter. Lol A lot of my plans for my coop is with Kendi in mind! I'm going to get her some rubber boots and bling them out just for her to wear on Nana's farm! She has her own little basket for eggs gathering too! Nope not spoiled at all!!!

My Children truly believe in order to be treated the *right* way they would have to be either a Chicken or Kaylee!

Just popping in to say hey! Everyone's been so busy it seems. Jellybean I'm excited for you!!!Hope you get some fuzzy butts to roam your yard. :)

Y'all sure make it hard for me to stick to my guns and keep just the three breeds, and my flock of mutts, I originally had in mind.

I get to go back to work Monday, which is exciting... But it puts me back in McKinney for a week while they finish my transfer. Not looking forward to being away from DF that long.

Which reminds me!! Mr. Lucky-Butt got a job today! Same pay, less hours, better benefits. I'm fine with that, it means we won't be missing a paycheck anytime soon. Fwew. He went in, turned in his application to the parts manager, interviewed stand8ng there, and came back to the truck with a new job and a can you start tomorrow. Thank God. I can quit worrying now. Worried myself sick over this.

Lyle and Larry are still covered in mites. I've hit them with prolate, python dust, permethrin, AND I've doused the coop in the last three days. I. Hate. Mites. Poor Lyle is picking his little butt raw.

I'm gonna take my sunburned booty to bed now. I have a drs apt in the morning. Gotta be rested!

My DH has a way of making things like that happen as well. I am sure it is a mind set and a gift from G_d.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE WEARING A BREATHING MASK! Lots of poison dust in those mite treatments!
It might not be a bad idea to look into some kind of *dip* like you would do with dogs for fleas. That would give you and your blessing less exposure to the poison in the air. Remember it hits the air every time they flap their wings.

And by all means don't just rest up for the drs.

I have a question that is REALLY odd IMO

I have standard Hens and 2 Bantam Roosters. Both roosters have red bald bottoms

I treated for mites thinking that was the problem.

Yesterday I spent most of the day watching everyone interact remembering that I joked that the roos were like a child riding bareback on a pony.

So my question is Is it possible that with spring springing that the roos are rubbing on the Hens backs so much that they are harming themselves rather than the hens? Those boys rarely ever hit the fluffy part of the Hen.

Good morning!! Well DH made it home about 1am this morning! I was so happy to see him. Then he said I think I'm sick, cough, soar throat, headache ..... Same stuff my son has right now.
So as he is telling me his issues I'm just sitting there with this "you got to be kidding me face ". He said what is it.....
I said I'm not going to get any work done on my coop this week am I!
He laughed and said, that's why you wanted me home...... And I thought nurses were suppose to be compassionate people. Man your a crapy nurse!
LMBO ok so maybe I need to adjust my poker face a little. Lol I am very compassionant for real sick people!

Be extra careful of handling any poison, organic or not, that can be inhaled or is in contact with your skin. You might want to bring up what you used with your doctor. I use Elector PSP made by Elanco. It is very expensive to buy, but very little is used to make up a gallon.

Good morning all! Looking like another beautiful day in Waco, Texas... Super sore this morning because the wife called me after a 10hr work day and informed me that there was a huge stack of lumber at her job that I could have. Otherwise, it was going in the dumpster! I got two truckloads of 1x4's, 1x6's, 1x8's and 1x12's, between 8 and 16 feet long. Man, I'm tired but can't beat free! Now, I don't have to buy lumber to skin my chicken tractor, for my grow bed frames, etc... Her boss was thrilled because they usually spend an afternoon cleaning their yard up and pay to have it hauled. He said I'm welcome to it anytime, so now I'm thinking privacy fence. Score! Down side, no progress on tractor as a result, and I dont look forward to pulling all those staples! Still, free is free! Hopefully I'll be able get the tractor done this week and can pick up my RIR pullets this weekend! So much to do, so little time.... A1momof3, glad to hear you got your hubby home, even though he is in a pitiful state! Praying for him! Have a great day all!

Congrats on the new job! I know it must be a relief in these times to know you will still have a paycheck coming in. :)

@lovingmyhens ~ Morning to you! Hope you have a great week ahead. :)

@tjo804 ~ I don't know, but it does sound possible?

I have to make a run to town for some dog food this morning. Hoping to get more work done around the coop. Still need to clean more stuff out of the barn. I don't want anything laying around for snake cover. We have rain forecast for Wed/Thur, some possibly severe. We could use the rain to help with all this pollen, just hope its not the severe kind.

Have a great and chickey day!
