I don't blame you for not wanting split up the ladies.  Does this potential buyer want a pair to mate, or just so neither would be lonely?

So he won't be lonely. Plus he thinks the cresteds are cute and wants one as a pet for his son. This man already brought a tufted roman gosling from me, somehow we got one on accident. His son adores the tufted gosling, so I guess he wanted a crested duck for the boy too. Howard would have a good life, there are other ducks there, not sure what breeds though. That's why I asked him about Howard in the first place, since he had ducks I had hoped he wouldn't want one of my girls, just take Howard.

If he has other ducks, Howard shouldn't be lonely...but I can understand him trying to get a Crested for his son. Since you've dealt with him before, and are comfortable he can provide a good life for Howard & who ever else goes with him, you still are being responsible for your animals. Not removing Howard from the situation could hurt more than just Ebony...even though it'll be tough to pick a companion for Howard if you sell to this guy, it might be the best thing. Unless you'd rather eat Howard...then that would be alright, too. He is yours to do with as you please.

Is it normal for chickens (hens) to chase each other around? No real pecking is happening but 1-2 of my hens chase the other 3 scaredy cats around. They are around 14 weeks. I feel like I should separate the two that do this but that would mean building a new coop/pen. I feel so bad for my 3 girls that are just so scared all the time though. Is this normal chicken behavior and I am just over thinking it?

I am considering it. As much as I hate to split the girls, Howard's life is in the balance. He does deserve a chance to live a long happy life. He might also find some Pekin friends and mates at this mans house.

Guess I'll make the call.

My ladies are about 12wks old (give or take) and they randomly rush toward each other in a threatening way, but never really do anything once they're in the other chickens face. They just kind of hop and flap their wings at one another. Could just be normal pecking order, or a sign of bullying...not sure...I'm new to this too.

We have one lady that is like that (scared). It worked itself out. If it continues too long, I would separate them or trade them off. If there is no severe pecking going on, I wouldn't worry about it much. They will work it out.

It might be best to send one of Howard's favorite ladies...so he doesn't end up bullying his companion once they're at their new home.

They are just showing their stuff, creating the pecking order. If it gets really violent, I would separate them. Give them a little time, but watch them closely. They should establish the pecking order in a little while. My birds did the same thing, and worked it out, no blood drawn. They are the best of friends now.
