I'm such a newbie...I just read something about needing to clip chicken toenails. I was not aware this was a thing, and I wanted to know everyone's take on it. Do you clip your chickens' toenails? What do you use? How short do you go? How often? Bootsy (front) & Barbarella (back) say, "goodnight folks".

I have had my chickens for almost 4 years and I have never cut their toe nails. They have never ask me to either.

Man if only we lived closer. I've been trying to get females but no one here in Lubbock has pullets they want to give away. I always end up having to start from scratch with chicks and then my luck has been horrible. I mean the roos are pretty but I can't bring myself to kill them so I have to spend all this time finding new homes for them. I placed 3 not too long ago and they were all doing well. Now I have these 3 boys to place.

Is there no place around you that sells sexed chicks? D:

So is anyone else as excited as I am about this "cold front"? I am sooooo looking forward to fall and being able to finally spend time outside. The last few days have been wonderful in the mornings and my kids are actually playing outside now!

I can't wait for the cold front. When it's not too hot then the skeeters are out biting me like crazy. Ugh! I just want to play outside!

I hate Texas weather, I don't believe in "future" cold fronts lol. I believe them when I feel them haha. Born & raised in California, & being out here in Houston for about 3 years I've learned to 1) never believe the weather man 2) just because there's lots of thunder & lightening it doesn't mean it's going to rain 3) that Texas' mother nature is going thru menopause with her hot flashes & moodiness. Did I mention I hate Texas weather? Lol. I won't even go into the skeeters topic. When people say "everything is bigger in Texas" I joke around & say "the only things bigger are the skeeters & roaches"

no imin del valle.. austin area.. but if you want to buy in a bulk im sure my mom wouldnt mind going to la grange to meet. Like at wikles

I have some 3 week old pullets (easter eggers, barred rocks, buff orpingtons) I'm trying to find new homes for.  Sorry, I'm not in Lubbock, but they will be 3 months old before too long.

Where are you located? How many pullets are you needing homes for? Are you selling or giving to good homes? If selling how much? I have BRs, they are my favorites so far, and BOs. I have wanted some EEs, but can't start from chicks at the moment. I need some older pullets who can start mingling with the flock soon.

But not knowing what 3 week old pullets are worth, I want to ask the others on this thread what they believe is a fair value on them.
