Texas

Fellow Texans, I've got a guy looking for muscovies around the Huntsville area. He wants adult black and whites, I wont be able to help him. I'm not willing to part with my black and whites, I just got them. Anyone have any?

If he doesn't find any by May, he might make a trip down to Conroe Trade Days at Montgomery County Fairgrounds--usually the first Sunday in May & October.

@jldward That's right! I forgot Conroe trade days were coming up.

@RoosterCogburn7 Call me a liar but I think they threw that out the window last year due to the uproar from all the owners? I've had a lone male muscovy for years, now I've got five more, and no ones said anything to me about them being illegal or having a permit. The game warden is a regular at our new place as we had poachers during deer season and he's been through several times.

Greetings from San Antonio! I have three handsome male muscovies: One white with blue yes, one chocolate with white , and the other a splattering of grey, brown, white and beige coloring. I am switching over to Appleyard ducks, so my muscovey are available for new homes.

I wouldn't call you a liar. In fact, I hope you are right. It seemed pretty ridiculous to me to make them on par with wild mallards.

Don't feel bad, you should have seen me Before I started training! I couldn't even walk my dogs on leash, vet visits were hell because my dogs thought I was a sled to pull! Just 2 Siberians and I was hanging on for dear life being dragged around! I do still have to use a pinch collar for visits to the vets or when I take 3 or more dogs out by myself, but I can easily walk 2 dogs on a normal collar. They still pull, but they don't dig in like they used to, being that they are sled dogs, I accept that they will not heel properly. It's in their DNA to pull and I can't train that out of them completely, the fact that 2 of my Siberians were well mannered enough to get their CGC is enough for me, and proves how far we have come!

Training takes time, patience, and perseverance! 10 minutes 2-3 times a day to learn new behaviors and then reminder sessions to keep it fresh in the dogs mind. But the rewards are awesome! I can take all 6 dogs to the vets now with only my 12 year old son as a helper! Huge improvement when before I had to have my hubby (who is 6'3" and very strong), and my 12 and 13 year old sons to help! I often take 3-4 dogs to training class by myself!

I have to ask.... Where did you go to start the dog training. I have rescued, untrained led dogs (one a Jack Russell terrier and the other a Rottie. I'm personally working on them with SIT but feel I need more help to get them both where they need to be.

A local kennel club often will host training classes. If there is a dog show in your area ask the club holding the show and they will be happy to assist. Also I would recommend clicker training. For me it made me pay attention to how I was giving my commands and the timing of my rewards which is important in getting attention from the animal - not just dogs either! chickens can be clicker trained.
