  • tjo804 - I am sorry to hear that. It is hard losing feathered friends. They become part of the family. Mine save me from the june bugs. Which I am forever grateful for, those things give me the creeps.

  • bnjrob- Thank you for sharing that. I will definitely keep that in mind as we built the new ones. I like extra reinforcements for my feathered friends.

My Husband goes back to work today. Almost an entire paycheck missed due to being sick. Mortage is due next week. On Wednesday. Its going to be a tight few days.

Had two escaped bobwhites this morning. No idea how they got out. Chased them in the dark with no flashlight. Followed the sounds of their wings and got them caught. Back in the grow out pen they went.

Had a giant spider on me, followed by a minor heart attack, and a minor case of irratic flight patterns. LOL

I'm glad Johns going back to work, but, I'm looking around at all the dishes that piled up in his down time and everything else.... Ugh. All those extra hours I picked up are showing around the house.

I'm off this weekend though. Time for some TLC just for me. Think I'll go riding.

Make sure you make it a Great One, sounds like you need a little down time. How does the River look, still muddy and high? rg's

The puppies tried to make the great escape this morning at only 20 days old.

New babies!!!! 4 of 12 hatched in my little giant, not a great hatch rate

. We lost one when the other chicks flipped its pip over and I think it suffocated in the night, that was sad, we would have had 5. I believe they are Black Ameraucanas, Now let's hope they aren't all Roos!!!

I have some that flip over all the time n hatch. I'm not bashing anyone :), but I see you have a styraphome bator? I honestly don't like them due to hatch rates. Are those mixed babies are barred rocks? Oh nvm sorry just saw what you said you think they are.

Yeah, I don't love the bator, although I don't really have problems regulating the temp and humidity in this one. I would invest in a different one, but I only hatch eggs once a year, every other year, so it's served its purpose. My first hatch 2 years ago yielded 5 of 18, but those were shipped eggs in the middle of July, so that may have had a bit to do with it.
On another note, I still have the remaining eggs in there, and I'm on day 24, should I count them out, or let them be? One of the 4 hatched out late yesterday, so I was thrown off by its late arrival, wondering if there is still hope for the others?
