AAAARRRRRGGGGHHH!!! ****** dogs. Neighbors new dog somehow got into my horse pen today and killed 7 hens. Well, 6. We had to do the *honors* on the 7th. Her neck was completely stripped but she was still alive, somehow. I feel sick. I can handle the **** fox, hawk & raccoon - they eat what they kill, but a dog? Only one that kills for fun.

I am so sorry for your loss. I been in that position a couple of times. I hope you take the 7 chickens and put them on your neighbor's porch. They need to pay you for them.

Unfortunately, I have no proof that his dog did it, just that a dog did the killings. He's the only neighbor with a new teenage puppy, so that's why I suspect his dog. We're going to ask, though, then figure out how the dog got in and rectify it.

So sorry! I know how you feel. My mom's German Shephard got into my chicken pen and I heard and saw her killing my hens. By the time I could get to my birds 4 were dead.

Well it must be my week for snakes. Yesterday after the storm we had, I was out picking up branches. My arms were full so I couldn't see where I was walking. Something made me look back and I had stepped over a hognose.

Today I was going to finish mucking out the coop when I noticed an egg in the doorway. Behind the egg was a rat snake. I now know where my baby chick went. grrrrrrrr

YIKES

We haven't seen any all week. Something did get two of the hooked eggs but it broke the line so unless I find a dead body I won't know what.

Happy to pass snake week on. Sorry for the loss of your baby chick.

I would respectively ask him if his new puppy came how with blood on him and address it from there.

Try using fire crackers to scare them away. It may be that no one TOLD the dog to stay away. The fire cracker will do THAT! LOL

We use it when strange dogs come on to our property, they are very quick to leave.

No this was years ago. 1-2 years ago she was euthanized. She had a tumor on the brain, seizures, extreme arthritis to where she would drag herself when trying to get up. This caused puncture wounds and scrapes. She had dementia and would just was around in circles. She couldn't walk anymore

I'd have a talk with the neighbor. His dog might disappear after that. I do love dogs, in their own yards.
I love dogs as well, have 2 rescues of my own. But I don't take to other people's dogs coming on my property and killing my animals. So I figure if I scare the fool out of them the first time, they won't come back. I can hope can't I?

Most of the time it just takes clapping our hands and hollering at them. But I have my rocks (couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, but they don't know that) and fire crackers ready.

Love shepherds, had one that lived to be 16. Great dog, except for the shedding!!!! But...I still love them. There is true intelligence behind those eyes!
