Texas

The tornadoes skirted around our place. Did get gigantic thunderstorm with a little bit of hail. Had been outside most of day so was watching the sky. Told hubby that the sky was looking worse and we should bring our pair of 2 month old roosters into the garage. No sooner had we gotten them out of their play pen in the front and into the garage but the storm started. Had a lightning strike out at fence line where there are trees - gigantic ball of pink fire. Looked pretty cool. Still thunder/lightning here but rain has stopped and it is cooler.

Hi I'm glad everyone is safe.
Is anyone going to the Funky Chicken Coop Tour this weekend? My son and I are planning on attending we live in Lockhart my question is should I buy the ticket/map online or just get it the day of the event? We are really new to chickenhood so we would love to meet others and learn more.
Hope to see you there

hey! my husband and daughters are going! we are super excited. we plan on getting tickets day of. if you show up early they are having a class at 8:30 with lots of chicken keeping info . ooo if it was just me and my husband we so drive in intime to for the class but i dont think our girls would really enjoy us waking them up even earlier :/ then we have to. o hoping for clear skys :)

We all did OK through the storm here. once again my husband was out of town when tornadoes showed up. AGAIN. I went through the horrible ones in Kansas last summer (one was less than 2 miles from me) and hubby doesn't think its anything to worry about because hes never seen one... and tells me that I'm exaggerating how bad they are. *growls @ hubby who is from India*

My parents who are from Washington state came down for the week... and this was what they didn't want to experience. My parents squished into one bathtub and my dog who was sedated and I got into the other tub.

Luckily we are OK, and so are our chickens. We had alot of rain and thunder/lightning but we are OK. Thankfully I had already gotten the chickens inside before it started because I had a bad feeling... even though our neighbor said nothing was going to happen.... lots of water, lots of rattled nerves and really really REALLY going to demand that hubby gets us a storm shelter. Hiding in a bathtub holding onto a dog who HATES storms... NOT a good thing.

I sure hope everyone else is OK. We should prolly do a phone tree or something.

I have two dogs and a cat that hate storms REALLY bad. Milo ( the cat ) just starts trembling and shaking, paces in a circle, and all sorts of things until you just give in and hold him through it.

I used to have a GSD that was SO BAD with storms ( thanks to Katrina.... He got stuck UNDER his dog house when the water started rising, when it rose enough to lift the dog house he got on top of it and waited out the storm there... ). If he wasn't inside, and we weren't home, he would literally EAT his way into the house, and through the house on his way to the dryer where he felt safe inside. I have no idea how a 145lb dog got inside that dryer, but Chance did it everytime! He ate through so many windows, would cut his mouth/body up all over, it was just horrible. Nothing we did would bring it out of him. It was like he was in another world. His eyes would glaze over and his pupils would dialate until there was nothing left but black inside of them. He finally passed at 13 years of age a bit back, and although we miss him we DON'T miss his storm fears.

Good morning Texans, would anyone like to begin the count down to when my horse ( of almost 10 years ) gets home from our trip to FL? She arrives in 5 days and approx 5 hours. I'm SUPER excited as I haven't seen her since the day before Christmas and this is the LONGEST I've been separated from her since we've been together... I can't wait!

Hi Ange and ChiknGarden!
I am going to the Funky Chicken Coop Tour also... I am going to try to wake up early enough to go to the Chicken 101 class, but who knows!
We'll be driving from San Antonio too, so maybe we'll see you along the way!

I bought my ticket online but I don't think it will really matter, I would think the lines to buy tickets won't be as long since they started pre-selling the maps at Buck Moore and Callahans.
