Texas

Well UI am intterested. Send me a private message. What kind? How old? How many? What price? I do eventually want more. I got the ones I have from a lady in Bellville so I don't mind a bit of a drive to pick them up (don't think I like the idea of shipping live hens). Thanks.

the door was a bit loose, she pushed herself in there somehow but couldn't get out. I lost 15 out of 20 and 3 of those are very injured

So sorry that you lost most of the flock. That just plain sucks. Hope you fixed the door. I'm sure that you probably realize or may have heard that killing a bird of prey is a federal offense that can get you some substantial fines and jail time, so it's good that you let her go. "All hawks and owls are federally protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (16 USC, 703-711). These laws strictly prohibit the capture, killing, or possession of hawks or owls without special permit." http://icwdm.org/handbook/birds/HawksOwls.asp Most are protected by state statute as well...

Of course there are those who prescribe to the SSS method of remedy, but then due to the above, that last "S" is the MOST important of the three... just sayin

Oh, and just so others can be made aware, many of these raptors have chips for tracking purposes... So that second "S" should be on your hated neighbor's land rather than your own... again, justsayin

I know and I wouldn't have done anything to it anyway. It did scare me a little though. That bird was not happy to be caught in there, so I stood back and used a garden rake to open the door.

Hi. New to BYC. We are in Cypress Texas (better known as NW Houston these days). We have had chickens about six months now and really enjoying. We are starting up an herb business and plan to get Rabbits soon.

Welcome! I'm in Cypress too! (for now, anyway) My 6 month olds have just started laying, which is nice, since the older hens have shut down for the winter! I'm still amazed that I haven't had any complaints about my roosters in the 7 years I've had chickens here.
