Texas

Thanks for the info. I guess it is wishful thinking. I was looking into window ac units to add to it as well. I didn't realize the metal was so flimsy. I assumed it was the normal sheet metal I have used for the roof. Guess not.

To add an AC you'd end up having to frame it anyway, in which case you could just build a shed/coop with the same or maybe less work.

I am considering purchasing one of those metal sheds from Homedepot/lowes $290-$400. I need a large coop, and don't have the $$ to spend on a wooden shed $1700-3000 right now.
I realize with the heat here it would be a oven unless altered.
Question for any of you out there that have turned a metal shed into a coop.
1. How many sides were left open?
2. Would you sugesstions it to someone else who lives in Texas?
3. If you could do it over, would you change anything about the coop?(adding any barriers to block the heat coming from the metal)

Look at the carports. I saw one that had a coop and the carport was made into a covered run. Real slick. Shop around, I have no idea what they are priced at. May include assembly.

The open sides and ends were enclosed with fencing and hardware cloth. Instant chicken coop. Add chickens and roosts. I marked that one for later.

Look into the Morgan buildings. You can quite often find them used on the Morgan lot with the new buildings. They are built on skids and very sturdy. Much more sturdy than the ones from Home Depot.

Ok, will do thanks

Hi everyone. I'm near Calallen (Corpus) and I have some cuckoo marans, barnevelder, and welsummer pullet chicks if anyone is interested. Hatched 6/19

Yea, we are adding up over here too.

I primarily raise Appenzeller Spitzhaubens, but just got started with Brabanters. Other than that, I have a mixed bunch of layers, 6 banties, and a few Polish frizzles. Also have one black lab mix and two cats. (And the wonderful helpful husband too.)

I have a Brabanter named CC and I really like her. I wish they came in more color varieties.
