Texas

Follow on post I am confident these gloves will work for my prickly pear transplants so what a great tool. The white/gold ones feel like I can safely take on rattlesnakes. The Green Black ones are HD fails but great for citrus work as they can be quite thorny and offer protection as well close to my elbows. Both are TOOLS definitely not your average garden gloves but for working in close with the prickly pear I do not lack confidence in these HexArmor 9014's, but would chose the florist pro ones protect more for bare handed scorpion removals as they offer top of the hand protection. For rattlers the 9014's would be my top choice, but for cottonmouth barehanded removals I would choose the other ones as they offer top side protection. I can't make a recomendation for a copperhead strike as I didn't mess with those much as a north Texan in my youth. IMG_6283.JPGIMG_6287.JPG

Recommend rakes for all snakes. Why are you bare handing poisonous snakes? I mean, besides the adrenaline rush. Should we chip in and get you a nice rake?

Have you tried the brush burners to remove the spines from the prickly pear? Those might help too. I don't think it kills the plant (indestructible anyway).

I meant to edit that just now but you were faster. When I grew up sure we had a TI-994A and later a Radio Shack TRS90, but that wasn't fun. So I was sent down to the great outdoors to adventure. Usually with friends often with firearms. Snakes were our frogger or pac-man. These gloves just remind me of proper gear for doing the crud I did as a kid with just sticks.

You never brought home a timber rattler as a kid to keep as a pet? My parents never let me keep mine.

Ah, the old TI-994A. Yep, learned to program on one. Best friend had the Trash-80.

No, rattlers weren't for me. I brought home tortoises. Sidewinders moved too fast and I turned over too many rocks looking for them.

@007Sean grew up in my neck of the woods of Texas. I bet he is immune to poison ivy as well because creekbeds were my and betting his playgrounds in that era.

I had a whole list of you ain't Texan if's for you planned in my head @RUNuts for me that stuff was all normal growing up. :) Gloves were all purposefully purchased for cactus and not snake removals though! :lau They did send me down memory lane, obviously.

And it was the trash-80 not a 90 I learned basic on.

I could have put on a superhero cape with those gloves as a kid.
Lord knows I still am one most times!

Too busy playing cowboy, most of the time, chasing horny toads in Abilene. My, that was a long time ago. From there to the Mojave Desert. Nice place to visit, watch for snakes.

Finally got my Winchester lever action. :D
