Lumber is ridiculous! I have reverted to scavenger for wood. Pallets are still free, dismantled they are used in many different ways. There are scrap piles from shipped items at alot of places. I have started thinking outside the box. Hopefully, prices will drop soon.,

According to some news articles I've read, lumber prices are supposed to correct very hard between now and the end of the year. I'm not rushing into chickens anyway, got a human baby on the way and it makes sense to wait until after that one gets here and I can actually do stuff at my full range again.

Be careful of chemicals on discarded pallets.

That was some storm.
I guess clean up begins again.
However, this time I got to start clean up early.
Storm woke me, beautiful awesome weather, lightning. Our bedroom on south-west corner of house. Constant lightning, we decide need to turn breaker to antennae off.
AND THE FUN BEGAN.
Dining room floor wet, kitchen counter and floor wet, cabinet doors open?
Utility room floor, counters wet (standing water).
Get to breaker box, turn off breaker.....
Mop hangs outside back door-nope not going there
Towel dining room, different towel kitchen.
We have a 25 ft wide porch on back of house-that protected kitchen,dining room, kinda, utility room .
window only has a 2 ft eave on it.
It took 45 min of clean to get that room dry.
Storm over, I'm done, coffee on.

Rain, in moderation, is good.

Went to sleep to thunderstorms and woke up to thunderstorms.

6 chicks out of 10 so far. I'd say the incubator was running hot, but 1 under the broody hatched yesterday and another wet one this morning. Gave her the 4 that were dry in the incubator and the other 2 incubator eggs were pipped. Unfortunately, from the first hatch, most of the yellow ones are male. Really wanted a yellow girl. They are eye catching out of this mix.

No rain for us last night, at least I don't think it did. Cooler today though, breezy. Maybe I'll get some work done on my tiny garden, or get the rest of that puncturevine pulled up.
