Lol! Well, good luck with that... Would help, but I've got my own problems right now :/

Black Rosecomb bantam roo- Frostbitten ( both legs )
Barred Plymouth rock hen- attacked by weasel ( lots of serious problems )
And I've got 6 other birds in my bedroom

Well, I cut all the feathers down to a nub around the barred rocks vent. Then I saw blood! I flipped out and carefully cut the rest of the feathers to expose any wounds... NOTHING! Not one cut, bruise or even drop of blood! I went through everything I cut off and there's an " egg " looking thing stuck in the feathers I cut! I thought maybe she laid a soft-shelled egg from being stressed, but no! That's where the blood came from! It looked like a jelly donut! But anyways an egg couldn't bleed until way later on in the incubation period. So I'm confused! Anyone know that maybe a chicken could poop out an organ??

Wow not sure what that would be petroleum jelly will help with frost bite though u may already know that I've got the lamp on for my pullets tonight just in case

Maybe a blood/meat spot that got passed without the egg around it. That's weird.

None of the other chickens got frostbite? Hmmmm. Our idiots were out in the runs yesterday even with the blowing rain and snow and we haven't had any problems with frostbite (crossing fingers). Couple of the cockerels live alone and they have done fine so far, even without another chicken for body heat. Their water is freezing inside, but they have been ok.

going to start a breeding pen up come January.... nothing fancy... lol all i ahve to breed is 5 roos all different breeds; a minorca, GLcochin, RS yokohama, and 2 banties a self blue d' Uccle and a buff silkie.... oh and a 6wk old olive egger roo that will be used this fall!
my girls consist of 2 production reds, 2 golden sexlinks, a mixed polish, GL cochin, SL wyandotte, sumatra, RS yokohama, barred rock, neked neck, 2 EEs..... i think thats it....
DW and i were thinkin of crossing the minorca over the neked neck ,barred rock and one of each of the sexlink and production reds....
then the yokohama over his mate and the sumatra later in the spring....
i would like to get a good cornish to cross with the cochins to get an even bigger meat bird....
any thoughts on any of my breedings?
i am wanting to get a better egg producer with the minorca crosses
the orientals the roo isnt of good type but id like to see the crosses...
i have the cochins in the pen now with the EEs those should be some good sized offspring! lookin for a goos meat bird!

My self blue is the friendliest of all my flock

Poor chickies. They're so cold this morning, water is frozen and I don't feel like lingering outside with them but I did let them out into the garden. And best of all, Boxing Day for Chickens. They're getting all the leftovers from yesterday's Christmas meals.
