Anyone in the DFW area have any quail hatching soon or young quail? I'd love to get some little guys as pets. I have a hutch ready to go for them.
becaureful quail have VERY sensitive systems.. i was wanting to hatch them before, but after all the stuff i heard, they will die instantly here because of how sinsitvive they are to things..

MapleLeaf, kept under proper husbandry methods, quail are not particularly difficult to maintain. Study all that you can prior to getting your birds.

I think quail are easy.. a few years ago i was hatching bunches of them out.. they hatch like popcorn popping (much faster getting out of their shells than chickens).. in a few weeks time they were little egg laying machines.
They are pretty tasty on the grill too

Tasty however you choose to prepare them.

well i mean sensitive to products.. Like non stick baking spray ect..

That is good advice, I have been reading about them for awhile now and I have a couple of small hutches that were used for rabbits. I have some lights set up in them as I was originally going to use them as brooders for chicken chicks once they got big. There's several feedstores near me that sell suitable food for them.

I was only planning on getting a few (4-6) to start out. I see lots of people selling adults on craigslist for 4-5 dollars, but I'm always wary of getting adult animals as pets. I never know how they were treated and I don't want them to be unfriendly. Plus, who can resist a baby bird that still has fluffy cuteness
