Hello everyone. I hope everyone is having a great Sunday. Did oame banding of English Orpingtons this morning. They are growing so fast. Need to get get some more next boxes up for my Marans and American Orpingtons. I'm thinking about putting ceramic lights in my barn. Has anyone used them before?

Looking at everyone's fuzzy butts on here, so gonna fire up the sportsman. Gonna hatch some white English Orpingtons, quail, white, silkies.

putting some minorca crosses and d' uccle eggs in the bator tomorrow! cant wait to see what pops! then puttin my fat cochin crosses in after those hatch! possibly sooner!

I'm fixing to set about sixty quail eggs a mix of pharaoh, jumbo browns andA&M whites I'm in between Bastrop and Elgin and I commute to Taylor for work. I plan on buying some chicks from ideal poultry a well would love to join in with y'all to save on that small batch charge lol

Oh goodness, Austin is a bit far for me. I suppose I could make a day of it.

Has anyone ever purchased chickens from First Monday Trade Days in Canton? If so, how healthy were they? Any other comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

Beware of purchasing any live animals from Canton. My husband is a vet and frequently sees clients with health issues that were bought in Canton.

There are clean vendors out there, and plain nasty one's. I would make sure I asked for a copy of a P-T certificate, they are "suppose" to have one to be out there. But I do not think they check for them. If they cant provide you with a copy keep walking.

But we love to walk around out there.But I have never bought any poultry from there, just a corndog and lemonade.

Yeah, I noticed both the clean and not so clean places. I was careful so that I don't bring home something to my little flock. I think I will stick to brooding chicks to add to my flock. Much easier quarantine chicks than older birds. I may need to eventually build a separate coop for additions. I am just very aware that some people just have sick chickens.

But they had some Polish and a few others that I would love to have.

You can tell just by looking. We went last month when it was pretty out and there were some nasty birds. Now I have allot of birds, so Poo does not bother me. But birds stacked on each other with 6+ in a pen the size of a small rabbit cage, I'm not stopping.
