at least he's gone now...
Yes, you're right. That is something to be thankful for.
Well this was a great day and an awful day at the same time. My feather leg bantams from Ideal came this morning (expected them yesterday) so that made me happy. But then one of my sweet ladies got killed by a dog.

I honestly can't make up my mind whether to giggle and coo at the chicks or cry for my poor australorpe girl. And one of my sweetest ones too.
Aww, honey I'm so sorry! I've been going through the same ordeal..I know just how you feel. Hugs to you

On the subject of new chicks. Any of you have experience with a chick who just seems plain evil? I don't know what to do with this one she keeps grabbing all the others and dragging them around by their eyelids! She tore one of their eyelids a little and I have her in a separate little box for now, but hate for him/her to be alone all the time.
They are usually the roosters! LOL There is always a chick in the bunch that goes around pecking everyones toes and causing general mayhem in the brooder! LOL
Hi all, I'm new here and am looking for some laying chicks. I live in the Bastrop/Smithville area and would like to have Dominiques. I've checked the mail order places but they require minimum orders and I only have room for 5 at most... at least for this year.

I'd be interested if anyone has Dom chicks they's like to sell.

Thanks,
Karen
Welcome Karen...I'm sure someone on this thread had what you're looking for.

Kilsharion, all my 'lorpe girls are varying degrees of sweet except one. She isn't mean like hateful, but she is very ornery. I have to watch her or she likes to bite and leave welts and bruises on my arms. the others are sweet and calm though and love attention.

Wow. Just ... wow...
i came across this last week and sent it to one of my friends.. and just found it again here on another thread.....

I think this explains why I stay home with my critters.. there are scary people out there.....

All us texans seem to stick together pretty well!!!!!!!

Hey everyone. I'm going to be heading up to Jefferson tomorrow for their Mardi Gras festivel and would love to bring home some eggs for the incubator. Is anyone near there that might have some available for me to pick up? I'm only wanting around a dozen.
