I figured I'd ask here about climates and chickens...
Is there anything different we would need to do living in texas because of our mild winter and hotter summers?
I am planning for lots of ventilation in the coop for summer, but what about winters here?
Yes, I'm really asking about the weather... and chickens

Great! I went through Poteet just yesterday on my way to SA. I keep bantams (mostly silkies and a few polish). What type of chickens do you have?

Im also in the middle, well more like..havent even started yet, of building my coop. Im trying to figure out the best way to set up my chicken coop. You know..where to put the windows, the vents, etc. When I went on the Funky Chicken Tour I finally figured out how I plan to build it. Texas gets hot and where I have to have my coop it doesnt get much shade. So I plan on having a three sided coop. That way it gets lots of air circulating through. And in the winter time, put up a board or something, to keep the cold wind out. Im trying to figure out which direction to have the open wall on though. Should it be facing North, South, East or West? I guess I go and post in the coop thread tomorrow. See what people think.
