their wings are basically just handles at this point in their evolution... you can tell by the design that once upon a time they DID use them.. but now they can't even flap them much.. if at all (so hard to tell with all the body fluff). But their little wings work great if you have to move them from point A to point B.. just stand behind them and grab a wing in each hand.. then steer!

Did anyone on here order any Black Austalorps hatching eggs from Hupp farms recently? Another BYC member just contacted me because he said someone in texas ordered and he wanted to compare the shape of the eggs with whoever else ordered in texas. the guy said he waited a week for them to be delivered!

Good morning, y'all been tearing it up the last couple of days!! Been busy at work so I haven't been on much hope everybody is doing good! I got so lucky yesterday a friend called and ask me if I would like him to stop and plow my field as he was going by and I told him of course! Took him 15 minutes to plow what takes me 5 hours! It's nice to have good friends!

So last night DW was out with me when i was feeding the chicks and it blew her mind how differently they act around me that around her. Since our schdules are a little bit off, and we have a 10 mo old, we rarely get to actually do stuff around the house together.

i was refilling the feeder, and its a 24" feeder and typically ill have one or 2 jump on top for a ride when im pulling it out and like to be ones to get first dibbs on the fresh cumbles...then of course after the others realize whats going on a few more will flap on up! i think its fun and i will let them hang out with me while im working in their room (they still arent outside but that will be remdied shortly!). DW was shocked at how they let me just pick them up, 2 or 3 will ride on my arm when im moving around! she says there are only 1 or two that will actually even let her touch them, but i can reach in grab any one i would like with minimal fuss!

just thought i would post this cause it was a huge epiphany moment that i am actually raising these guys to be friendly but need to figure out a way to make them know that all people, not just me, are good guys....but hey! gotta start somewhere!

That is cute, and I know what you mean. My chickens before would run up to me for attention, but if anyone else came back there they were skittish and didn't want much to do with anyone.

On another note, I was at the animal shelter yesterday(was looking for a dog I had wanted in there named tickles, but she was no longer there), I saw a cute pomeranian mix that looked like a little fox, if anyone is interested in going to dallas animal services for the lil one. Didn't really look at his/her name tho, so couldn't tell you that. I would have adopted the dog if DH would have let me. I don't like little dogs, but this one was just charming! DH thought I was replaced by aliens.

I am somewhat tempted to ask him again if I could have it. Nice lil red/rusty colored coat, with a white tip on it's tail.
