Texas

Welcome vivi and cmcanallen. Lots of us around here. I too am like you starting my first flock. Out here in new waverly we have dogs/cats out the wazoo, about 15 head of cattle, and a horse. I am looking to make my impact on the property with a flock of australorps...and eventually breed them to standard. But everyone here is a fountain of knowledge and cant imagine a better group. Grab a copy of storey's guide to raising chickens and ask any question you may encounter and im sure you will have no problems!

Thank you for the welcome. I could not imagine not having chickens. I have been raising them for over 25 years and still learning. I was out in the Byrd hotel this evening looking at the heritage RIR coming up. I hope their is one or two that I can condition to show in the fair in September. I have never shown but I would like to try it.

I can't wait to start getting eggs from my LCO. I have Marans babies in the first step brooder. I'll fire up the sportsman again in middle of January when I get my quail eggs in.

What kind of incubators does everyone use??

We are supposed to get rain most of today. Just a drizzle out there now. I would be fine with no local fireworks, upsets some of my dogs... But still -

Hope everyone has a Happy New Year! 2012 can't go fast enough for me!
