My ducks have laid all winter, Geese are seasonal layers and only lay during breeding season (April-June or something like that). However they could start as early as this month. Just depends on your weather and your geese. If you have Chinese or Africans they will probably start laying sooner.I've already got 2 drakes over 5 hens, but thanks anyway!
Do yalls ducks 'scovies or geese lay through winter?
Well HELLO Texas!

I am a southern New Yorker, meaning I am both from the southern part of New York state, and I am also a Southern girl at heart that was born in the wrong place. I am potentially moving to the Flower Mound (NorthWest Dallas) area of Texas with my family sometime this year, and I'd love to know if there's anyone on here from there that can point me towards chicken nirvana. I've only kept a flock for two years now, but I'm a life long bird-nerd and animal lover in general. So far I have come to realize that chicken people in general are just plain awesome, and I know if I can find myself in the middle of a good group I'll do alright with this move. So far though all the houses we've seen online seem to have property owners associations connected to them; is this something for getting streets repaired, garbage picked up, etc? or are they bossy people that tell you how much to cut your grass and not to keep chickens in the back yard?
I would love to know what you all think; all I do know is that I really am not a Highland Park / Neiman Marcus card sort of girl. More a Carhartt and poop covered workboots sort of look.![]()
Thanks guys!
