Lacking brackets bungee cords also work in a pinch to secure the fan flat on the outside of the pen.

I think our ancestors had just one hell of a lot less people and buildings to deal with and had tons and tons more shade and air flow. Only reason I have enough is because I live on a block where there are not solid wood fences and each lot is 1/2 acre or more. Otherwise I might have been in trouble too.

These work by lowering the air temperature via having the air pull the energy (heat) out of the air via conduction. While it's true that chickens do not sweat, the temp of the air itself still will be lowered if this is allowed to happen. This is why I keep harping on "depends where you are." If the normal humidity is low enough, it will work fine regardless if you're using it around an animal that can sweat. Otherwise, you're just making it worse. It won't make the ambient temperature cooler if the air cannot absorb any more water. This is the way the extra heat or energy gets pulled out of the air. By having the air pull water into the air. If it cannot, then no cooling will happen unless you are a mammal and the water hitting your skin cools you. Chickens systems dont' work that way.

im sure he will be fine! i only did one tour and was stationed at the most kush join in the country! send him some of them chocolate liquors and he will be set! its nice and cold there so the chocolate wont melt by the time it gets to him! lol we got a case in and sold them for 10 a shot!
is he active or guard or reserveist?

Active duty Army.. This is his 4th tour. The other three were to Iraq

Lol.. he would get mugged for those chocolates!
