I was just at the Tomball TSC earlier picking up pelleted bedding. Saw a bator in a cart at the register but think it was return from someone. Weekends can turn into feed store marathons have hit 5 feed stores in four counties.

yea theres not a TSC any where near me so i have to go to porter to get my TSC fix!!! i just went there to see if who was cheaper them or my feed store...
and why do they only keep one bator in stock??? both times ive gone in there theyve only had one bator on the shelf.. lol i got both of em!!! if you went there today and were lookin for one im sorry! and thank you for being so polite! thats very rare nowa days!

And this is why I just tell the people at TSC/feed store what I want and don't give them any room to question me. Finally found a feed store that would order me bags of wheat. It's like pulling teeth around here to find what I want to feed our chickens.

To be honest, I have never been to TSC. Guess I am going to have to give them a try.

I know I'm one of the few people on here that raises ducks and geese, and doesn't have a single chicken. But, I am just so happy that one of my four Welsh Harlequin ducks FINALLY laid an egg today!! A big, beautiful full-sized egg, right there in the nesting box like she knew exactly what she was supposed to do. I got them as day-old's from Holderread's the first week of June, and they weren't old enough to lay until Thanksgiving. I guess the days were too short already, so I had to wait until Feb 1. Now, if I can just get them all laying!! Since I didn't know which of them had laid it, everybody got a treat of dried mealworms!!

How big are they (the eggs)? My Gma said she hated duck eggs since they were too strong tasting, but she always had ducks just cuz she like them and they made her laugh. That was years ago, she is in the subs now LOL! When I was a child she lived in what we called the "Old House", had chickens, ducks, geese and a horse. Then Gma and Gpa moved up to the east side (really) of SA and now she has deer eating in her yard, that years ago she would have shot and gutted on site, LOL!!!!

Generally, duck eggs are the size of a large to extra-large chicken egg. Nice and big and VERY tasty. I don't find them strong-tasting, but they do have a richer flavor than chicken eggs. They are great for baking, too.

a lot of it depends on what they eat.. my mailman hated duck eggs until he tried ours.. the only ones he had previously had been from ducks that had lived off of fish and the muck they got out of a pond.. he was amazed at how good ours taste

so far this week I have gotten one cayuga egg and two giant pekin eggs.. so our girls have finally started laying!
