It was worth a second look, he's a cutie!
Hello - I'm new here, from Euless (DFW area). No chickens yet, just reading and learning and developing major chicken envy reading about everyone's flocks!
Hi
welcome-byc.gif
This is the place to learn about chickens. Great folks too!!

yinepu,

I loved the chicken clicker training videos! A friend of mine teaches clicker training seminars in the Houston Area. She focuses on horses. It is a really effective training method because it marks the correct behavior and is a reward based system.

I have used the clicker for several kinds of animals..

But I really think it's funny when people talk about how dumb chickens are.. lol.. I have to tell them that the chickens aren't dumb.. just uneducated!

Oh! I finally got internet from Excede! They installed a satellite! YAY!!!!!

Anyways I live in Walnut Springs but work in Burleson. My husband works in Cleburne. We were wondering if anyone around those areas might be planning on hatching some buff brahma's.

What kind of feeders do you all use in your brooder? I have one of the round 8 hole feeders that u can attach a jar to the top.

I just put the container on today as they have been eating just the feeder full about twice a day...its been about 4 hours since i put a full container on and it has been conpletely emptied...mostly due to scratching as you cant even see the bedding around the feeder for all the food! Is this the wrong approach? Should i get the longer style? Probably 2 lbs of feed under their feet and im debating whether to refill or to let me eat what they spilled...

I don't know if other people do this but I usually use a heavy pie plate for feeding chicks. The edges are up high enough they can't kick all the feed out but it gives them plenty of room to each get a place to eat. (yes, they poop in it and yes, I clean it out as quickly as I can) For my grown chickens I use a heavy pot. I tried feeders and my chickens kept flipping it over. Didn't matter what size I got, our roo just likes to flip stuff all over the place.
