Texas

My first group is 3 weeks old now still no sign of anything as far as combs go on any of them... This is probably normal but i was hoping to have some key distinguishing features between them since they are all getting their own anklets this weekend

My two week old brown leghorn roo is already showing a larger comb. If this helps.

cool, thanks yinepu........and as far as the guinea/turkey pen...is this a feasable option? do these birds get along?

turkeys can get evil during breeding season..
But if you are doing broad breasted I don't see a problem..

My guineas got along fine with my chickens (had one fall in love with a rooster).. and never had a problem with the turkeys either.. until the heritage toms started their territorial dances.. then the guineas got offended. it went a little downhill from there..

i know others who have kept them together with 0 issues...

Now every bird has it's own personality.. so you may have to play it by ear.. but before the hormones kicked in mine would roost together and share the same feeders

I've been considering tossing my guineas in with the chickens since they are all going to be about the same age...the run is planned to be 12x40x7, so should be plenty of room for them...a little worried, though, since I've seen some people talk about the guineas getting real pushy with their chickens. But - I worry too much ;-)

Hello fellow Texan friends.
I'm Liz from Austin and love all my chickens, sultans, silkie, frizzles. I got a sizzle boy(frizzle mix with silkie) he's about 1 yr old and needs a home, if anyone can take him I would really appreciate it. He has been a good pet chicken but need to let him go due to ordinances in the city. It makes me extremely sad but if anyone can give him a good home, please let me know.

is he used to having hens around? ie. he's not your only chicken, right?

IM still really on the fence about guineas...i know i want some turkeys...and one day some waterfowl, but guineas leave me with ALOT of what ifs....

I think they are the ugliest thing in existence. But, when my husband - who has never uttered one bad word about my chickens - said he wanted four guineas.......how could I say no?

I wanted pigs too.. but my husband was against the idea.. so we made a compromise.. when he comes home from Afghanistan he's going to take me hog hunting..
as in wild boar to freezer camp type hog hunting.. not going to the sale and bringing home cute baby pig that grows up to trash the yard type hog hunting.....
