Texas

Hey thanks for all the soil conditioning tips, keep em coming. I am also wondering what the specifics are with a septic system. I've always been on a sewer system. This one uses treated grey water for the lawn. Would this make it unsafe to plant an edible garden nearby?

PS I love the silver hens being offered, so pretty & I am jealous of the gorgeous horses too.

PPS it is snowing here and supposed to start sticking soon.... Ugh! I would welcome one day of summer right about now.

I have a septic system that is for all my waste water in the house. My system is two tanks with a water drain field though. My garden is planted right on top of my drain field. Waste water (gray water) is safe for use in food plants. I had to have my garden inspected and approved by the state health inspector because I sell my produce and canned goods from it.

Opinion : best large flock breed most likely to go broody?

One of the ones I am not letting go, has gone broody twice already. Of course the other 3 never have, so

I'm in Houston. I only have one Leghorn but she lays well. I should have some pullets by early summer. DMRippy has hatching eggs for sale if you want to hatch some. This is a link to her auction. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/662423/buy-it-now-super-blue-egg-layers-12
I might try and order some hatching eggs from you once I build an incubator or get silkies. How much is it to ship eggs? Anyone know?

I read on that add that shipping is 17, that the same for places in texas?
