Straw Bale Gardening Update -

I asked the gentleman who wrote the book on Straw Bale gardens if low-water conditions were ok for this sort of garden, and his response was that someone had emailed him to say they got by with only using the condensation drip from their window A/C unit! Sounds pretty low water to me. He's very nice, and you can like his page on FB if you want more info, or I guess buy his book. There's a giveaway going on for his book through FB right now.

His FB page is: Learn to Grow a Straw Bale Garden ///////////// Regular page: www.strawbalegardens.com

That could be questionable, depending on where in NC that woman lived. The amount of condensation from an AC in humid areas, like along the coast, is quite a bit more than the condensation from AC's in West or even Central Texas, which could amount to none. People in West Texas use evaporative coolers instead of window AC units because there is no humidity.

Very sorry to hear about your chicken. BUT, just want to say...Please, don't ever ever say that. 15 years ago I was laying in bed thinking the same thing. I thought things were going bad and what else could go wrong. I got a call at 2:15 that night that my 17 year old son had been in a tragic car wreck and had a traumatic brain injury. My whole world changed in a instant. He died 10 years later from complications. I had it made in the shade and didn't realize it.
I'm sure they didn't mean to hurt them. Go easy on em Pop.

Sorry I went there....I just needed to say that out loud. I feel better now

Everyone have a great day and hug someone you love!
Sorry to hear about your son, Little Wing. We all say and think things that we really don't mean when we're exasperated and it's never easy having to live without the people that you love. Hugs to you

And Sarge, they're just little ones who are finding their way. That's why God gave them parents because they need them. I just found out my youngest granddaughter broke a baby duck's neck when she was a lot younger. I told my son he could have gone his whole life and never told me that. But it's life's lessons for them and for us. Hug your kids too.

And I'll hug mine.

Boo, sorry to hear of more chick loss for you. Hang in there!

Lol.. yeah.. i just planted some grass seed the other day.. asked Dwayne for some old hay to use as a cover while it sprouts.. he told me I didn't want that.. I would end up with all kinds of weeds.. my reply "hey.. I'll take what I can get so long as it's GREEN!"
I love to look at something growing.. even if it's a weed.. better than bare dirt that I get to wave goodbye to when we have high winds or a heavy downpour!.. yeah.. I'm not a fan of erosion....
Even if it contains grass burrs? I hate those things and the chickens drive themselves crazy picking them off their feet. It's actually kind of cute but I know it hurts. They're staying away from the one little area that has them; quick learners!
