for the dry lot where no one goes.. yup.. I would even take them.. It was a dust storm here over the weekend with all the wind.. I have to wonder how much of our real estate shifted over to our neighbors!

So far, nothing bad with Weiss. Got him from a breeder in waco. I want to get a pup, but I don't have the money right now to shovel out 500 bucks.she's turning 7 this year
You have to be careful of the shepherds around here.. lots of thin boned dogs.. several bloodlines have food allergies. We had a third hand (or were we his fourth owners?).. male at one point in time.. very expensive dog. The original owners paid close to 2K for him.. but he had such food allergies... he was beyond having gas.. EVERYTHING except "taste of the wild (fish)" would shoot through him like grease through a goose.
it was so bad that even 1 kibble or a tiny bit of other food would cause a chain reaction.. finally the people who sold him to us wanted him back (they got rid of him because of divorce and the wife never wanted to get rid of him).. and even though he was a nice dog.. we were happy to see him go back to her. He was just too touchy to have around with his delicate stomach.. plus they missed each other so much.
The other dog in the first pic was also shepherd.. she also had allergies.. her nic-name became Chupacabra. She was allergic to flea bite.. to pollen.. to grass... to the trees.. to dust.. to well.. almost everything. Most of the time she had no hair.. keeping her on allergy meds ended up destroying her liver over the years. She was a sweet heart.. but very neurotic.. so I think a lot of her issues was just bad breeding (even though her parents were "nice" looking dogs)
I might have to take you up on that offerI may let you borrow him; but, I'm kinda attached. I'd like him back![]()

Straw Bale Gardening Update -
I asked the gentleman who wrote the book on Straw Bale gardens if low-water conditions were ok for this sort of garden, and his response was that someone had emailed him to say they got by with only using the condensation drip from their window A/C unit! Sounds pretty low water to me. He's very nice, and you can like his page on FB if you want more info, or I guess buy his book. There's a giveaway going on for his book through FB right now.

We have straw here, but it cost about $12 a bale, however, it is more compressed than the pictures I have seen. Only hay comes that way.

lol.. I asked once about buying straw at the local feed stores.. they politely informed me that they never get straw in Texas!
Okay... took off looking for straw, cause it sounded just awesome... NOPE... I can get a GIANT round bale of hay... that I could never get home... that doesn't help me much...I don't know about other places in Texas.. but around Lampasas, Kempner, Copperas Cove and Killeen there is no straw to be found (a few people never even heard of it)..
Course you can buy the tiny decorative ones in the Fall at Walmart and Hobby Lobby .. but I don't think those teeny things would help much!![]()
Wow!~ He is a handsome boy! How much does he weigh?
yep.. I lost all my bell peppers last night. Luckily, I hadn't planted any other plants that couldn't take the freeze and my seeds hadn't come up yet...So far, nothing bad with Weiss. Got him from a breeder in waco. I want to get a pup, but I don't have the money right now to shovel out 500 bucks.Pluss, I know that the food bill would double... I wonder how often I would have to buy a bag of food... We feed weiss Taste of the wild venison and buffalo meal. He seems to like it, but due to a bout of diareah recently (which I think is from him getting ahold of donkey poo) DH wanted to switch him back to Purina Pro Plan. Not that I mind, purina does a good job of balancing their diets. I just liked the no grains in Taste of the wild.![]()
I might have to take you up on that offer![]()
Thanks for the warning!Geez... how many freezes are we gonna have? My garden is going to wither away. Poor grapes. ; ^; I might have to replant my garden. *sighs*
Heat lamp on for the chickens tonight.![]()
