Texas

I just went to check on everyone and they were doing okay. The babies needed one of the heat lamps moved closer. I went to do that and the darn bulb busted. That wouldn't be so bad but when it did it blew the whole breaker. Now all the heat lamps are out.:th I hope they do okay tonight. I spent this whole time looking for that breaker and cannot find it. Everyone is asleep and I don't want to wake up to find out where it is. I put one of my fleece blankets out there with the chicks and ducklings (3 weeks old and ducklings 1 month on Wednesday.) I wrapped around where they were laying and made a fleece cave for them and they can snuggle into it. I am so worried cuz it is so cold out. I have never had this happen. They are almost fully feathered, minus the ducks who are just now starting to get feathers. Will they be okay with that for one night all 3 chicks and 2 ducklings together in the fleece cave? I know my older girls can fair well in this because there is next to no wind out.

Personally, I think that sounds fine plus much safer. Once they feather out, they really don't need as much heat. Please, please everyone using space heaters be careful - there was a coop fire near me 2wks ago due to one. Two birds dead, the whole coop destroyed, etc. One of the Kennedy kids. I don't want to sound rude, just don't want anyone losing their coops, birds, or houses. Remember up here in the north none of us heat our coops all winter. Unless they are teeny tiny with no feathers they will do just fine. My $.02.

gonna repeat it here to make it part of the public record I still say you need for him to build a bordello and stock it with showgirls Otherwise it just isn't a REAL little western (texas) town!
Brilliant! Love it! What else? A general store featuring "calico" splashes? Who would be the sheriff?

We haven't elected a sheriff, yet - but, we do plan on a sheriff's office and jail.

There are plans for the following:

And - four more will come along in a few years when I put in my final garden and run.

We already have a Boot Hill, also.

The runs are planned to be 12'x40'x6'

The coops are done in sections of 6'x8' with a shared, open wall (the dashes you see). The 6'x8' structure in my gardens is for feed, tools, seed, etc.

He's just the bee's knees at bringing my ideas to life! I needed a safe place for my gardens because we have soooooo many deer around here, so - my gardens will be open topped; but, they will have a front face just like the coop areas and the back area will meet up with the run fencing. Since it's 6' high, it should keep the deer out.

Yinepu, I mentioned the showgirls to Mike...then showed him one. He said he'd rather have Phyllis Diller performing (the Polish chicks).
