Texas

Well....I'm unexpectedly salting a rabbit hide this morning instead of being at work....I was in here typing a message to Yinepu when I heard a rabbit scream. If you've never heard one, it's pretty unique. It took a moment for it to register. When it did, I was out the door and checking. Sure enough, our rabbits had gotten out of their hutch and one of them was nearly dead. The other two are shocky and exhausted; but, I'm hoping they will pull through. I'm just glad I keep a small stock of non-iodized salt on hand. I've decided I really need to get about a 50# bag and keep it handy. The survivors have electrolytes in their water and are shut in the upper section of their hutch - no run time for them, today. They need the quiet anyway.

I'll tan this little fella's hide and make something out of it. We appear to be having rabbit for dinner tonight. The little guy was only ~2.5 months old, so not much meat at all. I just feel bad for how it happened. I'd been telling Mike we needed to put wire on the bottom of their run and we kept putting it off.....bad idea.
they just got out and died, or was there help? And i know exactly what a rabbit scream sounds like! The little wild bunnies we have around our place let them out from time to time, can only imagine the difference a flemish scream is like!

Side note! those of you with cattle, when the bulls start "growling" does that mean the cattle are in "heat"? I honestly know nothing about cattle other than they produce beef, but our big bull Ferdinand was calling all day yesterday from like 5 feet outside our dining room window and i swear i could feel the reverbs in my chest!

well.. come on then.. work them fingers!

Ah. Did they dig out? My husband and I are talking about safe ways to move our rabbits outside. How do you handle the heat with the rabbits?

And so sorry for your loss.

Latest Breaking News from Landstown:

Well, it's the first night that The Eggcelsior has guests...25 of them. They were partying and throwing food and drink around like there was no tomorrow. They even brought in their own red lights saying they were disappointed that this town had no "red light district". They were more enthused once they realized that the town planning committee was already working to fix that downfall - and, they were in agreement that it was a worthwhile pursuit to ensure that The Broken Yolk be constructed first and then Dame Dorking's - The best little hen house in Texas. They were all quite vocal that only after those most important establishments were constructed would it then be quite the thing to ensure there was some sort of provisions supply facility available.
That is too funny.

Just watching them run around, spread their wings and then poke their heads up at the window/door to see what was going on outside.

either throw him right into a slow cooker and let him simmer all day or let him rest in the fridge overnight.. should be tender and make a nice base for a simple stew at least

I cant stand rabbit screams.. and I think they know that.. it's pretty blood-curdling

That growling usually means he's looking for a fight or someone to challenge him in my experience you need to be extremely careful around bulls when they are growling!! I've been put over a fence more than once by our bulls when you are working them and they start that!!!!!

Ha Ha. I woke up at 5:00 and read the thread. It got me at first, then I realized what day it was and commented about it being April Fools and they deleted my comment and sent me a PM saying keep quiet.
I just had to try.
I couldn't leave you guys!
