they just got out and died, or was there help? And i know exactly what a rabbit scream sounds like! The little wild bunnies we have around our place let them out from time to time, can only imagine the difference a flemish scream is like!Well....I'm unexpectedly salting a rabbit hide this morning instead of being at work....I was in here typing a message to Yinepu when I heard a rabbit scream. If you've never heard one, it's pretty unique. It took a moment for it to register. When it did, I was out the door and checking. Sure enough, our rabbits had gotten out of their hutch and one of them was nearly dead. The other two are shocky and exhausted; but, I'm hoping they will pull through. I'm just glad I keep a small stock of non-iodized salt on hand. I've decided I really need to get about a 50# bag and keep it handy. The survivors have electrolytes in their water and are shut in the upper section of their hutch - no run time for them, today. They need the quiet anyway.
I'll tan this little fella's hide and make something out of it. We appear to be having rabbit for dinner tonight. The little guy was only ~2.5 months old, so not much meat at all. I just feel bad for how it happened. I'd been telling Mike we needed to put wire on the bottom of their run and we kept putting it off.....bad idea.
Side note! those of you with cattle, when the bulls start "growling" does that mean the cattle are in "heat"? I honestly know nothing about cattle other than they produce beef, but our big bull Ferdinand was calling all day yesterday from like 5 feet outside our dining room window and i swear i could feel the reverbs in my chest!
