It sounds like they will be evacuating the entire town ASAP. Officials are going door to door checking residents and they have brought in EMS/fire from all over the Dallas area. They are currently preparing for the possibilty of more tanks exploding.

My 14 month old red sex links looked exactly like that. See pic below at 1 week. I love these chickens.
They are so sweet and friendly. They all lay almost every single day. I have some 10 week old polish chicks
and the hens are so jealous. They don't like me doing anything with the babies' coop. They try to fly up and
get my attention when I mess with the polish. Also, I have been letting my babies free range with the hens and
I have had no problems with the girls. I'm sure you will love them.. and Welcome!

I love my RSLs. They may be ordinary, but they are awesome.

Just thought I would post this in the hopes it gets seen.

Last Sunday I gave 6 chicks to a guy who worked at Rawhide Rustic to give to his wife. The deal was he gives me the pallets he has stored up at his house. He told me 35 of them. He asked to wait until Wednesday because he would have two or three more to add to the load of pallets. I was okay with it since both my DH and I trusted him. We both stood up for him when the managers asked if he should get fired. Despite what we wanted (and a good many other employees) he was fired as a no call no show.

The reason I am posting it on here is that I was told his wife has an account on this site. I hope she sees this and remembers the deal for the chickens and that maybe his phone is broke and he can't get to email. Both my DH and I have tried numerous times to contact him but we have not received a response.

Please let me know if you are indeed cancelling on us. I won't insist on the chicks coming back because I know how happy they made you (at least that was what I was told). But I would like to know so that I can move on and get materials elsewhere instead of waiting and hoping.

That town, West, is one of my favorite little tourist towns in Texas. They do a Chzech (sp?) version of Oktoberfest every year...

My niece and great nephew are fine. Their room mate is in critical care. Thanks for posting, I wouldn't have known until later.

That's tragic. They are saying now 60 to 70 dead. Glad your niece and nephew are fine. I hope their room mate makes it OK. I am praying for all of the families affected.

West is famous for its todiefor kolaches!!! My heart goes out to them. There was a post I linked on my FB with all the open houses for evacuated families. Wish I could copy and paste. Silly iPhone.

Everyone is now okay from my family. Send some friends of the family took them in, her room mate is doing fine. The room mates grandmother lost her home. My niece has been evacuated, the local bellmead vet is taking in the small animals in the area. The La Vega vet clinic is what it is called.

The oktoberfest there is wonderful. They call it west fest. Great food, fun games and for those who like beer... lots of good beer.
