Texas

Are you sure you didn't need to go back again?  That's a lot of pretty cool breeds.  I stopped at Livengood Feed in Tomball to get my horse chow and they had gotten a batch of Americauner/EEs RIR and BO chicks.  The little chipmunk chicks are sooooo cute.  Husband hasnt crossed over to chicken keeping yet. He was interested when I was reading some of the posts on meat birds though...  we have only one grocery that has decent organic chicken breast and the thought of going from chick to plate was of interest to him.

I really want yo get into meaties myself as well! Just got figure out how to make myself a grow out pen for them. Ultimately id love to free range...but thats going to have many trial and error runs i predict...so everyone is staying penned at the moment

How do you add your photo albums to your signature?
Go to My Profile, scroll down, edit signature line. That's where you will get to add your photo albums.
I've had everything on the list as adults except the Iowa Blue and Australorp here in Texas

have a couple of each of those two now as chicks

all of the other breeds listed did fine where we have the severe drought and high temps a few years ago.. didn't lose any from the heat
I have 1 Iowa Blue roo but we haven't gone through a summer yet.

here's a pic of my coop, it's not much but it looks like my grandparents coop from the old farm! It matches my old time farmer decorating motif! Lol! Which translates to that's the cheapest way I know how to do it!!

Me too. And I just found a wonderful enabler to get me started on Chocolate turkeys! And a baby goat. Half nubian half spanish. Should be neat looking male goat for my herd. Now just need to locate him some girls his age. Got a few months on that before he is ready to leave his mama.
StelleKitten StelleKitten StelleKitten.....Just a few days ago didn't you say something to the effect that you would NOT be getting all your animals at one time?

how was it?

It was mind boggling. We got there around 10 and left around 3. WOW!!!! So much to look at. We carried 4 bags of information home with us. There were a LOT of people there, but everyone was super nice. It is going on again tomorrow and Sunday. We saw the cast from Duck Dynasty and Gunny (R. Lee Ermey). There was NO ammo for sale there.

Can I get you guys help sexing some almost 4 week old baby chicks? I have a feeling I know who might be roo's already but hey, just wanna check and see if I might be wrong. Or do you guys think I should wait a few more weeks? There are two turken frizzle ee crosses(which I guess just makes them ee's? it was a frizzle turken project), two that are frizzle ee, and one that is either a ee that didn't get the dominant frizzle gene, or is a pure bred americauna, and then two heritage rhode island reds.

Will a chickens first egg have traces of blood on it? I have a green egg that has a little blood smears. The color is different than any others ive been getting hence why im thinking its a first egg...either that or my yokie is havving some major issues

Eta pic
That's normal for their first eggs and they are usually smaller than they will be too. Congrats on the new layer.
