Texas

Today got the 6 chicks in the brooder marked with leg bands, 3 BO and 3 cuckoo marans. Got an overhaul on their brooder today and got a hanging waterer!

From the breeds of chicks i have raised so far...these 2 are the scratchingest chicks ever! They move the bedding around more in one day than all my other batches would do in a week!

I just saw the Texas topic! lol, I'm up in the Texas Panhandle.

For those of you with rabbits, would it be too much to post a pic of your rabbit set-up? Dw and i started planning our rabbit shed today and are kinda having a hard time getting on the same page and wrapping our heads around the concept. I think seeing what works for others in texas may help out alot. You can pm me if u dont wanna fill the thread up with rabbit talk, i understand

Welcome to the Texas thread.

I picked up three Buff Orpington pullets today to put in the brooder with my three Easter Egger pullets :) They are all so freaking cute!

And Lisa! I have friends out in Skellytown :p I'm not originally from here so I don't know to heck of a lot of people, but I'm getting there :p

My bo's have grown like weeds...they are probably about 4-5 weeks old now. Brooder mates are a week younger. Lost exact count of the weeks amongs the hubub but all of them will be headed outside in the next week or two!

How old are the ones you got? Im curious how yours feather in. Mine got their back feathers first and looked like they had 2 tails for about a week. Was pretty funny looking and i dont know if thats a BO thing, or i just got some odd feathering birds

I heard they are really hard to raise since our temps are so high.  Do you have that issue?

I think hard to raise is a relative term lol. They do not do well over about 90-95 degree, but no rabbit does. As long as shade, cool fresh water, and a nice cool breeze is provided, they generally do ok.

We run turbo livestock fans and a misting system dying the summer. We also put frozen water bottles in for them to lay against.
