My dogs are fired... I heard sudden chirping outside which concerned me. So I grabbed a flashlight and a pistol, called my FOUR dogs to come out with me to chase off anything that might be scaring my birds. Could not get a single one to get up and come out. Some watch dogs they are :/ At least they leave them alone to free range now and don't kill them. Baby steps I suppose, LOL!

It took us forever to get our younger dog past the don't-try-to-kill-them-when-they-are-free-ranging stage...

That is bad. Our dogs would be out there in a flash, all I'd have to do is open the door. Had someone try to break in before - dogs woke me up barking like crazy. I was asleep on the couch and opened my eyes in time to see through the window in the top of the door while the storm door was being opened. There was a mad rush to the door and our dogs were slamming themselves up against the door to try to get at the intruder. Needless to say, intruder disappeared quick. Guess a bunch of large snarling dogs wasn't his cup of tea.

No, I think it was actually our mockingbird teasing me, LOL! Its OK, I love our mockingbirds for their sense of humor and interpreter skills But we have one that is a night owl and does chicken calls, guinea call or even car alarms in the middle of the night. One day she was out there imitating the sound of my radio fence alarm that goes off when my goat eats through one of the wires

I didn't see anything obvious and I still heard "chick sounds" in the distance. So pretty sure it was her again

I sure hope it wasn't one of my new Blue Isbar or Cream Legbar chicks being carried off by a bird of prey somehow. I am pretty sure my headcount at bed time was good, LOL!

Although, something funny about bed time tonight... I have two main coops set up. One for juveniles/chicks and one for adults. I let everyone out today to free range. The babies stay in the run but everyone else was out having grasshopper for lunch

I had to get my boys to bed and the youngest still nurses and he was taking for.e.v.e.r to go to sleep. So I went out well past dark to lock up the coops knowing everyone would have put them selves up except the seriously stupid guineas who would still be banging their heads into the fence for a few hours....

I was right, they did put themselves up as usual. But this time they all decided to mix it up. Some of the juveniles were in the adult coop, some of the adults were in the juvenile coop and the roosters decided to switch coops, LOL! Alright, whatever... as long as everyone is safe from the boogie man

You and the others have made me laugh! Good thing I was gone last night or I would have chimed in. I wouldn't have apologized, you didn't do anything wrong.

Good Morning Texans!!

I think my babies are growing up! They will be 9 weeks old tomorrow. My DH and I got in from church around 9 last night. We went to close the coop up. I have 4 BR chicks who think their roosting spot is on top of the coop. Luckily my husband is 6'4" and can reach them. Everybody was inside the coop! Not necessarily all on the roost, but we are getting there!
