Texas

My husband is home today looking after the two injured ones, he said they are both eating the fresh feed he just put out, and scaring off the pullets from the food, just like they used to do. Seems like they will be just fine :)

yay!!

What would be most cost-effective if I want to only have to buy one gun, but be able to handle coyotes/dogs and smaller stuff like raccoons (once trapped)? I want to stay under $300

I had planned on getting a handgun as my first gun, but right now I am more concerned about protecting the property from whatever is killing my birds.

I am here in Burleson - Just south of Ft. Worth. 13 pullets & one little man named Pecker. Girl child named that poor bird when it was a week old.... Little did we know she was right about him! We have been at this since April of this year. We hope to go organic in feeding our little herd. Anyone else out there feeding organic? Not the easiest way. Ordered my first bag of food. $30 for a 50 pound sack of feed. I don't know if it will really be worth it. But I have people already wanting eggs once the girls get to work. Up to $5.00 a dozen.

cant go wrong with a shotgun...just change the size of your ammo for what you have in mind.

Welcome to the Texas thread from Magnolia Just North of Houston! Glad to have you!

Anyone in the DFW area (North Texas) have fertile pure breed hatching eggs of any of the following breeds?

Rhodebars
Blue/Black Bredas
Isabella or Lavender Leghorns (BIG stretch there, LOL!)
Langshans
Quechua
Blue/Gold Partridge Brahmas

I know its doubtful - but if I can avoid shipping eggs I'd love to :D

Might look for a Thread on Organic feeding, they may have other suppliers available. (I'd stay away from the Natural chicken Thread, the Texans might just have a bad name over there >;~} 8)

No more picking fights from this girl. I officially unsubscribed from that thread after today's topic of conversation...
