You have met yinepu???? Lucky you. She is one of our experts on this forum. Be careful though. She loves chicken math!

Lisa :)
yes! She is AMAZING. She gave me so many new chickens yesterday. I saw an ad at the feed store and next thing I knew I had new birds JUST LIKE MAGIC!
She said she advertised them here on the chicken board too. OMG speaking of chicken math you should go to her place! SO many chickens! and the big emus were SO COOL! My husband wants a couple! I fell in love with her geese! She showed us around and told us about making the capans and how she butchers birds I swear my husband was ready to go grab a notebook and start taking notes! I still can't believe these birds were her extras and she gave us a dressed turkey and capan from her freezer! OMG they are so BIG I have the capan in the oven now and I can't stop drooling! My little girls were having a complete blast with all the animals and the little tiny horse! We are going to go back and spend a day at her place soon!

So right now we have these
6 Dorkings (thank you Yinpu)
6 Yokohamas (another thank you to Yinpu)
3 Aracaunas (from Yinpu to)
15 straight run Buff Orpingtons (Ideal Hatchery)
6 straight run Jersey Giants (Ideal Hatchery)
3 white ducks
1 turkey

I have no idea how she did it, but her birds look SO much nicer than mine do! My little birds are so scrawny next to hers! My FIL is already making a list of what he wants so we can go back and get some birds for him!

I get the feeling you must have thoroughly enjoyed yourself.

I am happy for you and your family. Take advantage of her knowledge. I learn what I can here on this forum, because I don't have anyone close by to 'bug'.

We so totally found her by accident. I don't read the bulletin board at the feedstore but my husband does. He saw her ad and wrote down her number so fast I thought he was nuts. He said "look Hunny FREE chickens" so naturally I thought they were old sick birds. OMG I was so wrong! She said she already put the ugly ones in the freezer and that these were just extra chickens that she didn't need for breeding. They all hatched out of eggs after last Christmas and earlier this year and some are laying already. My FIL is a retired poultry judge and swears these guys are all show quality too! She had almost 100 to give away and still has pens of different breeds left over.

I did a search and found her ad, it's in the Texas auction thread. Does anyone know her phone number?

The reason we never use soap is because we do not want to wash away healthy flora.  Also we have cutting horse stallions and need to ensure the health of their sperm.

I've been involved with breeding Thoroughbreds--which demands a live cover. I would be very worried about disease transmission if the stallion weren't washed off with something a bit stronger than water.
