Texas

... is not the same as a neighbor having an AR 15 or two in a subdivision.
You say that as if it's a bad thing.

Only reason I don't have an AR-15 or two is $$$ and it wouldn't work well as my concealed carry gun. ;-)

For all our TX gun culture, AZ must be recognized for trumping TX. They don't even need a CHL, and they allow open-carry (at least that's my understanding of AZ law).

Yeah, I figured it was probably because it was summer and my family tends to get super tan in the few hours we spend in the sun a day, haha! It doesn't make it okay, but I figured it just wasn't our year to be there. We went back to Boerne and we were fine there. I think it may have just been selective.

Still, after that vacation, I don't really feel comfortable letting my sister go to those places alone. I had to follow her into a gas station because I was worried someone would comment. I tend to feel guilty about it, though, because that's not how I should feel. Luckily, other than the staring, this year's vacation went well.

Being looked at for being different is everywhere. Hubby and I are white. Best man at our wedding - black. My family wasn't freaked out but hubby's family was a little shocked. Went to party thrown by best man and his wife - we were the only white people there and our friend's family couldn't believe that white people were invited to party. And when my well-mannered husband called friend's grandmother "ma 'am" and spoke to her respectfully, the poor lady nearly fell out of her chair. Have a kid (young adult) who we love like a son - his parents are Mexican. Go places with him and we get weird looks from white people and tan people. It's just the nature of people to stare at things they find different. But I do understand being cautious about where you go. Unfortunately there is evil in the world and you can't always know what might happen.

Mandy that is an adorable little boy!

One of chicks gave me a present. I stepped outside and she came running up and dropped a small kingsnake (alive) at my feet.

No my third but I love this time of pregnancy your still small enough to move around and not get out of breath! Plus it's the first time you really feel your little one! As any mom can tell you it's always a time you remember and smile about, even if its not your first! :D

Alaska has open carry as well, and I think also Virginia and Wyoming too. Hopefully the open carry will go through here in TX next legislative session. This time it couldn't get out of committee to go to the floor.

The only thing I've seen that ticks me off with guns is as soon as lowlife has one their ten feet tall and bullet proof! It's annoying to say the least! It lows people into a false sense of security. It's like they think just because you have a gun you can do and shoot anything you want!
Reminds me of a story I read some time ago...
A deranged man walks into a eatery waving a gun and shooting... A grandma in the corner table doesn't even flinch, she pulls out a smith and Wesson and blows him away saving everyone's lives! Guess where that was? Texas now if that was to happen in any other state like pa or New York they'd all be dead or taken hostage before the police arrived. Funny thing was she went rite back to eating her meal like nothing happened! Go grandma!!!

Yes, that is a serious problem. But if more "normal" people were armed, people like that wouldn't get away with acting like fools. But there are more normal people out that that have guns and carry concealed than society thinks. It does just take one bad apple though to make everyone else look lousy.

When my youngest (DD) went to school that I almost thought I was going to lose it. Now she is in 1st grade and DS is already wishing he was in Middle School (just started 4th). The time, it does fly!

I have 4 babies. 11 year old son (who thinks hes 25), 7 year old son, 5 year old son, and baby girl is 1. Here she is making her "squishy face" as the boys call it. And the second is of the boys First day of school this year.
