Newest addition to our family! Ain't she adorable!

To know about American gun culture and then to experience it first hand are two very different things. Owning guns on a farm to protect your livestock or near a border where drug/human traffickers cross is not the same as a neighbor having an AR 15 or two in a subdivision.
I can understand the fear it may cause you since our society has been trained to think guns are evil. An AR15 is just like other guns - it shoots bullets. It just has a larger capacity for bullets than say a revolver. It's the people that turn guns into something evil. As mandaleigh1981 pointed out, evil is everywhere. You can't always count on a cop to protect your life or property. Even in the city, 911 calls don't always get you help quickly, and sometimes the 911 dispatcher doesn't even call the police. Had that happen in Dallas not too long ago and the woman wound up being murdered by her husband because the dispatcher didn't think that the first call warranted a police visit. Not to mention that even there are dirty cops out there who do not "protect and serve" like they are supposed to.

I think you would be surprised at the number of seemingly normal, every day people that have guns. It may be a surprise that Texans are more open about their weapons than people in less rural areas, but there are still a lot of people in TX that have guns that are quiet about it. I hope that you will feel more comfortable and maybe do some research and get to know more people that have guns so you can see that the media and our government spins guns negatively in order to frighten society. The truth is that the majority of people that own guns are good upstanding people. They obtain guns legally and use guns to hunt, target shoot, and for defense of life and property. It's criminals that you need to be afraid of. Not the soccer mom next door with a gun safe.

Ok we do seem to be having a problem with our dog. He's eating rocks... When the vet took an x-ray of his hip they showed up... Ive known different dogs that did this but how do you get him to stop! I'm worried ill have to get him cut open!! :( no one I know or knew have had any luck!

You say that as if it's a bad thing.

Only reason I don't have an AR-15 or two is $$$ and it wouldn't work well as my concealed carry gun. ;-)

For all our TX gun culture, AZ must be recognized for trumping TX. They don't even need a CHL, and they allow open-carry (at least that's my understanding of AZ law).
Like I said, I don't understand the gun culture here. And, yes, a neighbor with an AR 15 or two is pretty scary.

Well, we have our first issue with one of the girls pecking the other girl too hard and causing a lesion on her waddle. What do I put on this to make it not get infected and to hopefully keep the birds from pecking it again? Suggestions? Thanks!
Depends on how bad it is. Big open bleeding wound could probably use cleaning out with soapy water. Otherwise, may not need anything. I don't doctor everything and haven't had a problem with infection with wattle/comb injuries. Blue-cote can be used but since it is on a red wattle, it might actually attract more attention to the area so that more pecking goes on. If you get Blue cote or something similar, it is easier to apply if you get the bottle instead of the spray. Should be able to get it at Tractor Supply or feed store, often in the horse/cattle medicine section if they don't have it with poultry. If it isn't huge and bleeding, I might just leave it, but without seeing it, hard to give you anything more concrete.

Mandy that is an adorable little boy!

One of chicks gave me a present. I stepped outside and she came running up and dropped a small kingsnake (alive) at my feet.

Should I be proud or what???

Lisa :)

Our stupid chickens just ignore the snakes that get in the coops. They leave me to find the snakes curled up in the nestboxes. YUCK!

I
I hope it does I got a freaking man camp going up less then a mile from my house! And I'm scared!

As long as you are on your own property, you can carry your gun openly on your property. You can also carry your gun in your vehicle (out of view), so you can take it with you between home and work, etc. Unless your employer forbids weapons at work. But it's ok to keep a gun in your car, although I would recommend you get a small gun safe to go under the seat if you have to leave your gun in the car while at work, in a store, etc. Do you have concealed carry yet? The class time got shortened now so it doesn't take an all day, or two day class anymore.

Sometimes dogs eat things because they are missing a vitamin/mineral. And other times they eat rocks just to eat them. If you can find out where he is getting the rocks, that might help. Like if he is bored and eating them while laying around in the driveway. Or eating rocks trying to get to some "prey" he is after.
