Texas

Hey everybody! Sorry I have been gone. As some of my friends on here know I have to have major surgery, which I finally have scheduled for October 8th. I have been running around like a crazy woman trying to help DH get everything ready before that happens. We had to go to the hunting lease in Leakey and fill all the feeders to the top so they would last for a couple months. We had two birthday parties this weekend. My sons birthday is Friday; it just seems like everything had to be done all at once. I had to help DH get the two brooder pens built; one load of JG babies arrives tomorrow and my next load of NNs arrives next Thursday. So LOTS to do and not enough time to get it done!

Thank you to all of you who wrote to check on me; you guys are really the only friends I talk to on a daily basis besides my husband. It really made me feel special.

I will try to get on more now that some of the major stuff is done.

I also managed to sell my three extra leghorn roos.  So big daddy is happy to have his hens to himself, and I am happy there is a lot less crowing at 4am! :cd

4 am? Now I don't feel so bad for my 4:30 crower!!! Lol I got to get up at 5 anyway to milk the cow and feed the calf! So ill count my blessings :lau

I only have 1 entry, my backgrounds are just not pretty where most of our chickens are at
I like this photo. It's "real" - country life and animals isn't always amber waves of grain and colorful flowers for a backdrop - it's dirt, poop, blood, and sweat.

If you wanted a "prettier" pic without the dirt in the corral, you could crop this and put the bird as the focus in the middle so less ground would show. Or crop it to the right of the animal butt and see how it looks with just the cow in the background grass with the bird without as much of of the ground being seen to the left. Then you'd still get the lines of the fence for some interest, while shifting the eye over more to the bird and the cow as background.

Congrats on selling your birds!

Do you realize you are 3 hours away from me????? I wish I could be there to help you after the surgery. You will be in my prayers.
