Awww! I love it's little fur neck piece!

I have a Black Star and my husband wanted to know what's wrong with her neck because she is lacking feathers on part of her neck. Must be a defect...I don't care as long as she lays eggs.

I just finished making the Italian Cream Cake for my partner at work...tomorrow is her retirement party.

Don't tell my chickens, but I used STORE BOUGHT eggs!

If you have ever baked a cake and used really fresh eggs, then you may have experienced a slightly gummy texture. Older eggs make better cakes but I can't remember why.

Oh wow that cake looks just TOO GOOD! I never knew that older eggs make better cakes. Course I'm not much of a cake baker really, though I do like homemade carrot cake.

Got a good deal on sweet feed at the feed store. Yay me! In other news, had to tell off a teacher today. Not my son's teacher, but another teacher in his grade. She would not give me my kids at pick up time. Said "she wasn't sure I was their mom". Even after them saying Momma and me producing my driver's license, she made me walk all the way to the office, which isn't close, and I was already running late to pick up the next kid.....ugh. Wouldn't even just let me wait til his regular teacher went outside. I told her the next time she tries to keep my kids from me I was going to call the Police Department for kidnapping. I was pretty steamed. I mean I get asking for ID but that should be enough. Or let me wait for his teacher who knows me. So out of curiosity I called a cop friend here in town about it, and he said to call him if I had any issues again. Said legally the school can only hold them if there is a custody or protective order for the child. Otherwise it actually is kidnapping. Holy cow, some people are just idiots.

Makes me want to home school them! No indoctrination that way either! Though out here in Podunk that is less of a problem than elsewhere. But then I remember I have zero patience when trying to explain something and realize I will just have to deal with it.
