Wow, that ROCKS! You should totally try to sell them.
Thanks, I'm trying to get them sold. I just really want them to look clean and professional.

Ditto. lovely.

Thank you!

Very nice! Wow, that had to take some time, a steady hand and patience! You have talent Miss L.

If I were to be critical about anything, I would say to modify the design just a bit so you have fewer cross supports...maybe take out the horizontal one running through the center?

You should, for sure, try to sell them, even on Etsy. You can do some for each holiday, maybe find a way to attach a hanger so people could use them for those wire ornament trees?? There are lots of possibilities!

There was something on BYC a few years ago where a lady used polymer clay stalks, sliced them and molded them around the egg. Those were nice, too.

If you are interested, I'll try to find it if you haven't seen it.
Thank you so much! It took a couple hours (it certainly didn't help that my brushes are older and frayed, so I had to make do. I also used a few sewing needles to do the finer details, but that's pretty hard, considering the length of them.

I was using an example image to see if I could do it, and the cross supports were certainly the most difficult part. I wanted it to look somewhat realistic, but I was torn between doing it simplistically/unrealistic or complicated/realistic. You're right, though, I think a more simplistic design would be better for such a small canvas. Plus, my hand gets shaky after I paint such small details. I end up just doing base coats until it relaxes again.

I'm currently looking for those little ornament beads. They will go on the top and bottom of the eggs and allow me to tie them up onto an egg tree I plan on making. I want the display to look just as nice as the eggs themselves.

I've done some more detailed ones before, but they were more based on my interests than anything.

For example, these. The two on the far right and left are the ones I did with ideas. The one on the right was based on Little Red Riding Hood and the other was just me practicing mixing colors on the egg. These were really fun and I've gifted one of them and the other is kinda my baby, since it was the first egg I painted.

If you could find that page, I'd really appreciate it! I've seen other painted eggs and they are so gloriously painted and they always have such clean, exact lines. Seeing other techniques would be amazing.

You have real talent! Awesome!
Aww, thank you! You guys all are making me blush, heehee!

I don't have the patience or talent for painting eggs. Yinepu paints and carves eggs. She has some posted on one of the decorated egg threads in the hobby section. She has offered to show me how she does them (especially her carved eggs). But I am talentless!
Painting eggs was one of those things that evaded me for a long time. I tried when I was younger (Easter decorating, drawing, etc.), but my hands were unsteady. It wasn't until after I learned how to play violin and had to be perfectly balanced that my hands steadied. Not to say you have to learn how to play a delicate instrument to be able to paint or carve eggs, but it certainly helps to practice using your hands for detailed things. Like puzzles! I love puzzles. I never finish them, haha!

Hey guys! Sorry I was gone today. We ran into San Antonio and took the boys to see Planes. I wanted to see Riddick but DH said it might not be age appropriate.

Oh well, next time. We then went grocery shopping, and then dinner, and then another run into Pleasanton for a 12 pack and an oil filter for my truck so DH can change it in the morning. LONG day.

The babies are doing good. Been eating all day. Had the lamp on em both day and night, and they seem to still be at a good temp as they are not running from it or huddling. They are in our insulated metal building with the garage door half way open. They are so teeny and sweet. I can't believe they will be 10 lbs someday. Garyn, my oldest, is in love with them. He is such a kind hearted boy, especially with animals.

This morning walked out to check on my propane tank and down to 5%

Promised my DD shrimp for dinner, so what did I do? Yep, shrimp and scallops on the barbie! Along with packs for zucchini/squash and Anaheim peppers. LOVE this cooler weather, did not mind standing over the fire

And in case you were wondering, it tasted dang good!!!!!

Sassy, riding home in the truck.

Looks like a Snoop Dogg. Yes, I have a dog named Snoop Dogg. We also have a little three legged rescue weenie names Bobber, a spotted weenie (I forgot what they are called), and a black Fila Braseilero, or what some people call a Brazilian Mastiff. The weenies are all boys, and the big one is a girl......so when she is in heat I feel really sorry for her. Well, until she tosses one across the yard for getting on her leg. I told DH that is what women feel like ALL THE TIME. Always surrounded by a bunch of useless weenies......

LauriTX you are doing a great thing for many pups and many future pup adopters. Fostering is hard, fun, rewarding, frustrating, and addictive. I've been in rescue for 13+ years now, and have pretty much given up wondering why people do what they do. My job is to care for the dog and find it a good, new home. Each of my foster dogs is a dog I am baby-sitting for someone else. I just do not know what that someone else is yet:)

Laura, your egg decorating prompted me to go looking for small ornament "egg trees".

I found this photo of an amazing tree: The Easter Egg Tree of Volker Kraft in Germany. This is no small tree!

I think the "how-to" for the polymer eggs may have been removed. I'll keep looking for it and update this post when I do find it. I bet you can even replicate a similar design, but using paint.

This is the link to the Polymer Eggs:

Those. Are. Brilliant! Imagine all the work that took! The tree I planned on making was much smaller, like a jewelry tree. We have some really old limbs outside that have withstood the test of time. I hoped to paint them black and stabilize them on a platform. It wouldn't take much work, but it'd look nice and would allow for the eggs to be hung and displayed.

I looked up some polymer eggs on Google Images and was pretty amazed by the amount of work it must have taken to carefully place every single piece of clay and then to mold it into shape, that's pretty astounding. Like this one! I would love to try my hand at making that. It's above my skill level, but practice makes perfect!

I used to work with clay more in college, but it wasn't my favorite medium (mostly because I wasn't very good). But this morning, ironically, I found a dual-sided clay tool in my craft/art chest. I'll look into it for the future. We'll see if any of these eggs I've made will sell.

This is an egg I'm nearly finished with. It's more abstract and was inspired by these painted feathers I've seen before. I'm fond of it, though I'm not sure it'll be everyone's cup of tea.

It needs a good layer of glossy top coat, but we'll see. I might touch it up tomorrow when I have some fresh eyes.
